Default Dante's Divine Comedy 'offensive and should be banned'

Dante's Divine Comedy 'offensive and should be banned'

It is a world-renowned work of literature and one of the foundation stones of the Italian language, but Dante's Divine Comedy has been condemned as racist, homophobic, anti-Islamist and anti-Semitic.

The classic work should be removed from school curricula, according to Gherush 92, a human rights organisation which acts as a consultant to UN bodies on racism and discrimination.

Dante's epic is "offensive and discriminatory" and has no place in a modern classroom, said Valentina Sereni, the group's president.

Divided into three parts – Hell, Purgatory and Heaven – the poem consists of 100 cantos, of which half a dozen were marked out for particular criticism by the group.

Just another attempt to weed out European traditions, and to replace them with modernist/multi-culturalist nonsense.

Absolute crap. Ban even the bananas, because they are racist. Ban this, ban that. Communism in the Western World is going to be the new model of politics very soon.
It just ended in the Eastern part, but with all those prohibitions and bans, I see no future for developing any creative things in the Western World. It will develop creative things for the multiculti upcoming generation of degenerates. Dante is classic. How can you vanish and ban classic..

What do you expect from a world which now does not even let you say the Pledge of Allegiance in school anymore or put Christmas decorations in department stores?

Despite being a non-Christian I have to protest any banishment of Dante's Divine Comedy. It is a wonderful read and an insight to the minds of men who lived in times before our own, to rid of this work in the classroom is to rid the students a divine opportunity to learn.

Dante's works are not alone in this boat for many an author's work has been scorned by the mob in recent days.

Things need to be taken as being from the time period they were written. What's next, banning Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus" and "Othello"?
