I know many stereotypes about German people but the most famous is the German punctuality. Germans are known for their coldness, tallness, blondeness, for their blue eyes, "Bratwurst", beer, for building the best cars, arrogance and their honesty.

Noric and Dinaric and Alpine are all more common than any "Keltic Nordic" in Germany.

Even writers of the Nazi period like Gunther mentioned the Alpine and Dinaric types in Germany, particularly in the south, showing photographs of examples.

common german stereotypes in canada (positive and negative):

they brew the best beer (nearly all beer in canada is canadian/american macro, and german rauchbier, weißbier/weizenbier, pils, any 'bock', and alt/schwarz/kellerbier.

germans are upstanding and punctual, but very unfunny and tell terrible jokes

chancellor merkel is stiff, unfunny, butch lesbian

kinky in the bedroom (this is expanded to most west europeans)

make excellent cars

are currently 'ruling' europe socially and economically, taking the lead of recovery

there is still a great cultural devide between west and east germany

tall, blonde, pretty boys

"vell you szee, all germahns szey talk like szis. very very kinkee yah vee germahns are" - if they are saying this, they have a cigarette in their hand they are waving around, flicking their wrist.

i think there is a divide between people who see them as euro'trash' (if you know that style) slightly gay acting, and the people who see them as kind of like 1940's nationalist, tall blonde people who drink a massive boot of beer and have knuckles made of iron who can break your jaw by flicking it.

german beer culture is the biggest in Canada though. the more you move away from the cities, and out into the country (and kitchener, which is a german town (or used to be)) the less you get any of the bad stereotypes. which makes sense because where i live and other places like it, it is about 95% northern/western euro people

OH - the biggest one : north american people think ethnic germans LOVE david hasselhoff. this myth has permeated the biggest and most popular western shows as well

These are stereotypes and there are plenty of exceptions.
