That's fine. But a city like San Francisco is needed. Unfortunately, it's also a victim of it's own success because it's so expensive here now because of the economic vibrancy, that a lot of the artist types that created much of the local culture can't even afford to live here anymore.
So San Francisco is really quickly becoming Manhattan lite.

What I'm saying is that a place like San Francisco is a necessity. You have 98% of the rest of the country where it's pretty boring and you can pretty much throw a dart on the map and move to any of those places. But SF has always been unique in that it's a haven for many people who would be considered weird or misfits anywhere else.
The only thing that sucks is that reputation itself is being threatened by the tech industry which is turning SF into Manhattan and destroying the local culture.

I said Manhattan lite, which it is already becoming. There's only one Manhattan though, unless the finance industry completely relocates from New York to SF, I don't think it's going to happen. But SF is approaching Manhattan level real estate prices, so yeah, in that respect, it sucks for working people.
