Actually Ariana Grande is almost unknown in Italy. Many Italians have known her after the Manchester Arena bombing.

Makes sense. Italian-Americans ceased being Italian, except for maybe those still speaking Italian and even then they're somewhat foreign probably. I dunno. It would make sense you still feel kinship with them due to a shared language, but not without some kind of divide due to living in different countries with different state cultures.

Which surprised me. I wonder whether we already had our first Italian immigrants back then.

I looked it up due to this commercial.



EDIT: Yes. Right after WWII we were taking in Italian immigrants and by the year 1961 there were already 200,000 Italians living in Belgium. Italian immigration isn't that new though. Even as early as during the Renaissance era Italian moved to the Low Countries, though not at the scale of during the mid 20th century. At least 2.5% of the current Belgian population is of Italian descent one way or the other today.
