    That doesn´t sound healthy anymore.

My grand-grandparents all came from places less than 15kms away from where I live. My grandparents all came from places less than 10kms away, my parents from places not more than 3kms awy. Not too bad, either, huh?

Northern Europe - the British Isles.

My ancestors came from England and Ireland. Amongst the Irish were "the real Irish" and some Ulster Scots with a surname pointing back to Lanarkshire or the Cairngorms.

My English ancestry is from Northern and Central England. Both sides of my family have both English and Irish ancestors, my mum's is heavily Irish (my mum herself is half Irish) whilst my father's side is heavily English with more distant Irish ancestry.

So my ancestry is Anglo-Irish but I see myself as English. Anglo-Irish is a bit of a contradiction as an identity.

That fake identity, "British" doesn't work either.

come on... there is some meaning to the British identity. It's at least much more meaningful than the "Yugoslav identity" which some people erroneously compare it to. You can't spend 400 years as a joined country and not have some cultural exchange and convergeance. People from the borders and north england don't live on two different planets for instance.

After much research aided by ancestry.com, FTDNA, and 23andMe I can finally finalize my ancestral origins and let this be the most up to date and accurate declaration.

For the purposes of the poll I put Northern Europe as I genetically cluster with the Kentish and Cornish, on paper genealogy I am a lil over 75% British Islander (England and Ulster) with the remaining less than 25% being a mix of German, Norman and Portuguese.

Because of agnatic/patrilinear inheritance, genetic signature, and a rule of majority I do not identify at all with the less than 25% part of my paper pedigree, I see myself as Tennessean and one of Anglo stock coincident with my DNA results.

Give us names! Cairngorms is Jacobite country.

Like I posted ages ago, names found from all over. I'd assume some of the Brits or those with Brittish ancestry have matches.
