He belongs to the Toga clans of the Shammar, known as the Southern clans. They follow the religion of 12er Shiaism. Well their brothers the Jebali and Al-Jarba are known as the Northern clans who follow Sunnism. Despite religious differences they seem themselves as one people and belong to the same people.

Indeed he can be his brother. Although Nasser is of Syrian origins and claimed Ghassanid descent he was not full Egyptian especially on his paternal roots.

What are you talking about? Both of Nasser's parents were from southern Egypt.

Yes but his dad's family migrated from Syria, at least according to him and he claimed to descent from the Ghassanids who converted from Christianity to Islam. Also Nasser's family often had strong affinity toward Arabism, which is not strong among Egyptians who only consider themselves as Arabs in linguistic term but not an ethnic term.

Is there any actual evidence for it other then what Nasser claimed?

No to be honest with you. Some people believe that his family might have migrated from Syria, others believe he did this as political move when he actually united Syria within Egypt as an Arab republic.
