Could anyone tell me what surname does this handwritting spell out?

I took the second surname of my great-great grandfather from a 1920 census and could not figure out what it meant. I did take it from Ancestry, but the person that translated his name said it was Mariano when the census clearly (to me) said Maximo now I do not trust their information especially on this hard to read surname. Anyhow, what do you think this image says?
