Most of them look distinctly Southern European, there's a lack of west Asian influence on most of them.

I agree, although some would not look that out of place in Turkey and Armenia.

I think that Apulians look less "exotic" than Sicilians and Calabrese even though la vita e bella does not generally agree.

Not in Bulgaria (or Balkans in general).

About half of them can pass as tosks.

I just find it unfair how Southern Italians, and Sicilians/Calabrese especially, are singled out in this forum as being unusually 'dark', 'exotic', 'semi-European' etc. compared to the rest of Southern Europe, as if such types were absent in Iberia, Northern Italy and Greece. And yes, I see no real difference between Apulians, Lucanians, Calabrese and Sicilians, although Campanians do seem to be a bit lighter.

But you apparently don't see no difference since surely you have told me you find the Sicilian councillors to be dark and many of them exotic, and you don't feel that same way about these.

Personally I think Lucanians, Calabrese, Sicilians, and southern Apulians are about the same. I find Apulians to look a bit more Albanian though.. Campanians are lighter.

I also emphasize that Greek islanders look very much similar to these southern Italians (Sicilians, Calabrese, etc). It's mainland Greece, the rest of Italy, and most of Iberia that I do not find to have much "exotic".

Well yes, but these Apulians are pretty dark too, though admittedly they don't have the exotic facial traits that I have seen in a minority of Sicilian councillors. Anyway, it's a bit silly how any mildly exotic Iberian in this forum is usually dismissed as a Gypsy, Mulatto or Latin American, but any exotic Southern Italian, no matter how outlandish and borderline Pakistani, is seen as legitimate and representative.

Well some Iberians can be very exotic and I'd quickly state it, but I would say it's a smaller amount. It's because there is less in the Iberian genome to explain said looks, and southern Italians and some Greeks cluster on the periphery of Europe anyway.

But yes I do think Apulians lack the same "exotic" elements as some other southerners.. and I do think they look fairly Balkan, which is due to the Illyrian ancestry and people here apparently agree hence Albania and Serbia being two of the three most chosen options above.
