Yes I know that, compared to other Northern Europeans, Brits can be quite dark, but he is extreme.

Although his colouring can be found in a small minority of White British people, his facial traits are very weird.

I don't think he is extreme but he could have foreign ancestry. English people especially can have ancestry from outside Britain. He could possibly have some Jewish ancestry. Who knows?

That's what I suspected when I first saw him, but Wikipedia, which is usually very thorough about these matters, does not mention it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bond_(journalist)

Corrected that. Actually maybe not jewish, but something. I thought it said fully irish before, not british, so answered in stupid manner.

Neville is a darker type, but when untanned he's nothing like the OP.

People need to make up their minds. You can't have it both ways. Are the British pale or are they dark? You can't be the palest Europeans and dark at the same time, unless you're talking about hair color lol

The overwhelming majority of Brits, whether light-haired or dark-haired, have very fair skin, but a small minority can have more sallow or even olive complexions. Even taking that into account, however, the OP's facial traits are really bizarre for a Brit.

They are like most European populations with a mixture of people. Random individual pictures are not a good indication of what the majority of the population looks like. The majority of British would have lighter colouring than the gentleman discussed in this thread.

Its just hilarious to hear about Brits darkness on this forum and then go somewhere else and hear about how pasty they are, and how they''re always red lol.

So its just about the same in NE populations? because ive seen some Dutch & Germans like you described too.

Here is a list of BBC correspondents, including all the sports journalists. In fact, I can spot a couple of other White Brits on the page who I'd also describe as swarthy/exotic, but even they are not as extreme-looking as him. http://tvnewsroom.co.uk/bbc/bbc-reporters/bbc-reporters-specialist-4320/

Although there's a cross over between the Paleo-Med British look and East Meds I think he's probably not entirely indigenous.

Darker Brits generally look (pseudo) Iberian. Brits with East Med looks are very rare.

The English in the South Tan better, than say the Irish who are mainly freckled.

Red Hair Gene. Includes freckled skin, that can't tan so well.

It depends on the picture. In the last picture he looks very British to me, while in the three first he looks more foreign. Especially the 1st and the 3rd.

I'm not sure there is much correlation. Although Wales and Ireland may have more redheads than England, they also have fewer blonds and more people with dark brown/blackish hair. Furthermore, a notable minority of the last of those can get pretty dark, e.g. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Christine Bleakley.

The MC1R Gene controls Melanin. This is the best & most thorough test to date.
MC1R
MC1R is a key protein in controlling skin and hair colour and works by controlling which type of melanin is being produced by melanocytes - specialised cells that produce melanin.

There are two types of melanin: eumelanin and phaeomelanin. If your cells produce mostly eumalanin, you will have dark hair and dark skin, whereas if your cells produce mostly phaeomelanin, you will have red or strawberry blond hair, freckles and light-coloured skin.

When MC1R is activated, eumelanin production is triggered; but when MC1R is not activated or blocked, melanocytes will produce more phaeomelanin. Certain variants of the MC1R gene reduce the ability of the receptor to stimulate eumelanin production, causing melanocytes to mostly produce phaeomelanin, thereby resulting in fair skin and red hair.

Some of these red-head variants are “weak” - or low penetrance - and only reduce eumelanin production by about 5-fold, which can result in red or strawberry blond hair. When you take the Red-Head test, you will be tested for all known red-head variants of MC1R, including the weak variants.

Well OK, but take a look at this thread of mine then. I can confirm from personal experience the differences between the two groups too. http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?103110-An-English-rugby-team-and-a-Welsh-rugby-team-compare-and-contrast
