I have updated my haplotype tree for the haplogroup N1c1a (M178).
http://www.elisanet.fi/alkupera/N1c1tree.pdf

So far there are only VL29-groups (L1022, L550, L1025), including the Rurikids from Scandinavia.

I updated now three branches of Z1936:
E. Subhaplogroup Z1936 → Z1934 (14)
F. Subhaplogroup Z1936 → Z1935 (16)
G. Subgroup Z1936 → Z1935 → Karelian (17)

Remember to refresh the internet browser, if you cannot see the red text "Päivitetty/updated 4.12.2013" under the topic. If you see errors in haplotypes, please correct again; or if you see that some haplotype could belong to some other subgroup than I put it.

thanks for sharing this, however, there is nearly no haplogroup N in Ireland, where my ancestor came from...

Yes, it is very rare there. :) Only few N-Englishmen are found: Crowthers seem to descend from the Insular Estonian branch of the "Western Finn|ic/ish" (L1022) subhaplogroup.

Newest update: haplotypes of Karelian group are picked from the projects North Eurasian N, White Sea Karelia and North Dvina. Even those, who have no confirmed SNP-mutations, found in most cases a credible group for themselves, on which basis the SNP's can be predicted.
- G. Subgroup Karelian → Pre-Z1941 (p. 17)
- H. Subhaplogroup Z1941 → Z1940 (p. 20)

Karelian group seems to diverge into three main branches:
- Northwestern (eastern and northern Finland)
- Northeastern (White Sea Karelia)
- Southeastern / Pre-Z1941 (Russia)

Ladoga stays in the middle of the branches. The first two branches could be connected to the Old Karelians about 1000 years ago, if mutations allow this, but they may be even earlier. The third group is the deepest.

Z1941 descends from the third group, and Z1940 descends from Z1941. This later branch did not come directly to Finland, but circulated through the southeast.

111 markers make the classification clearly more reliable, allowing several STR-mutations for all the reconstructed "forefathers". Therefore I recommend everybody, who are interested enough, to expand to 111 markers; I just did it myself (results will arrive in January).
