Hungary is wrong in the map, we are the parts of all three belt!

Pure alcohol consumption among adults (age 15+) in litres per capita per year (Hungary is in the third place in the world):

Beer: 4.42
Wine: 4.94
Spirits: 3.02

The northwest beer (sör) culture faces the southern wine (bor) and northeastern spirit (pálinka) culture in Hungary. And in all good qualities!

Wine is grown here, but the most comsumed alcoholic drink is beer by far:

Except that Malta is more fixated on beer because of British influence and Vodka because we also grow fine potatoes.

Beverage belts are of foremost importance in French geopolitics:

. The North produces only beer,
. The Northwest produces neither wine nor beer (not in significant quantities, I mean), hence only cider,
. The Northeast belongs to both wine and beer cultures,
. and all zones meet in Paris, which consequently earned its title of capital city.

The alcohol Turkey consumes is apparently 60% beer, 35% spirits and 5% wine.

vodka is merely one of spirits. some central european regions sport beer, wine and spirits at the same time.

Spain is certainly from the wine belt, but in terms of consumption, beer is almost as consumed as in the North.

What is the meaning of gray colour regarding Poland, Baltic states and Scandinavia?
Mixed?

I think that beer is by far the most popular dink in my country, with wine becoming more common recently at the expense of high % beverages (vodka).

if you zoom in on the map it's a mix of brown and blue, as in they are part of the beer belt and the Vodka belt. (Poland is also part of the wine belt)

I would say mixed for Turkey. Beer and spirits (Raki) are most preferred drinks.

I am more of a beer guy but I like vodka too.

Dat logic.

OT: I'm mixed wine/beer. Depends what i'm eating. Generally with Pizza or fast food is good to have a beer rather than wine. With Pasta or meat wine is better.

In any case wine is healthier.

Italy (while not in the beer belt) produces (from North to South) its own beer as well.

Beer is my favorite

I never really liked Vine, but my grandpa used to make the best Vine in southern Slovakia, he won several contests throughout his life.

Here in Portugal there's Peroni in some supermarkets and bars. Is it a popular brand in Italy ?

Thanks I'll try to look for it, altough I like Peroni, better than Portuguese beers wich are in general too fermented for my taste.
