The difference is that the Graal mythos is ancient, how ancient is uncertain. It may well be pre-Christian. Armanism was invented by Guido List [Though he called himself "Guido von List" he was not a nobleman and not entitled to use the "von".] in the 19th century.

Serious archaeological and anthropological investigations have failed to substantiate List's doctrines. However, they were popular in Nazi Germany.

The Armanists were quite the synthesizers and blended pre-Christian Germanic ideas with Blavatsky's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blavatsky) Theosophy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theosophy), the Mythos revolving around the Graal and Spear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Lance), etc. Add to that the bizarre "etymological" word-mysticism of von List and you get an intriguingly bizarre package.
