Qendresa isn't a bad name. Krashniq is not usually a first name, its generally a last name (Krashniqi). But nah I don't like that name.
Probably something like Blerta for a girl and Kushtrim for a boy.

I don't like trendy names like Hayden, Jayden, Cayden, Caitlin, or anything that ends with an "i" (Mandi, Candi, Sandi, Andi, etc.).

I also hate when people give their kids normal names, but with stupid spellings. Like Mykul instead of Michael or Jaeruhmee instead of Jeremy.

I also hate ghetto names.

I prefer normal names. James, Sean, Ryan, Elizabeth, Marie, Samantha.

My daughter's name was picked on the fly. We had almost been discharged from the hospital. Instead, we had to go back to our room, whip out a baby name book and well, we never even got through the A's lol. What's to be said....I was young and dumb. Her name is Andrea.

I chose my son's name. Hubs disapproved at first, but it didn't take long for him to come around:) His name is Derek :)

Totally agree with Dresden's post lol.

Embla is so White trash

Not at all. It's one of the oldest female Scandinavian names there is that is still used to this day and I've never met anyone named Embla I've considered white trash, I even did a random facebook search because you made me insecure.

From what I've noticed white trash in Sweden seems to give their kids more recent international/anglo-saxon names like Nicole, Kevin, Melissa, Vanessa, Liam etc. Also the very classic Y-names like Conny, Jimmy, Kenny. Or the worst of all simply spelling the name completely wrong like adding H's or exchaning S's for Z'z. For example Zara, Zandra, Lindah...

I'd like to name them after my deceased relatives. There is a hereditary second name in my family which is given to a son of each generation and I intend to keep it going if I can help it. It's like an additional family name. I detest these modern hip Anglo names that white trash parents give their children. Biblical names do not rank too high in my book either. I refuse to have children with a woman who wants to name them Jesse or Sara (no offense to people who have been cursed with such horrible names ).

In modern times, most Chechens give their children Arabic names because of Islamic influence. For example if you search for Chechen names on the internet 80% will be Arabic origin. But traditional Chechen names are very different and quite often have a meaning in Chechen.

Few Chechen names sound Western or Arabic, although my siblings and I all have Western sounding names. My name means Mountain Cliff by the way. Good luck finding out what it is though. Haha!

It's interesting how many have mentioned they will name their kids after an ancestor or other family member.

In Chechen custom this is completely unheard of and unacceptable. Using the name of an ancestor is shameful to his memory.

Not one name occurs twice in my direct paternal line up to 40 generations.

Here it's the opposite, you name your children after ancestors to honor them.
Also if you don't have any family names, old names die and disappear.

Here in Sweden you traditionally gave the first boy the name of his paternal grandfather, the second boy the name of his maternal grandfather.

I don't know which kind of names I dislike more, ghetto black names like: D'Shaun, Javon, Shaquiqui and LaShawnna or Yuppie white people names such as either borderline stripper/pornstar names like "Indigo Marie" and "Aurora Rose", the new trend of giving them surnames as given names like "Anderson Walker" and "Vaughn Murphy", or these completely made up ones like "Ryker" and "Cortlyn".

very strange. I tend to thin Germanic and Celtic names sound the best. I ike the name Edward as it is usually associated with nobility in English culture. My name or example James is associated with low class butlers. I hate my parents for giving me an ugly name of a Saint. A boy I would name Shaun [celtic], Arthur, Edward [a great uncle of mine] Robert or Peter. As for girl names I my let my future wife do that but my favorite girl name is Victoria. It sounds pretty to me and I like what it means.

Some cultures view naming of dead relatives as bad luck or dishonorable. In Germanic culture it isn't that bad, generally middle names should always be different.

No many Germanic names are still present in Germanic countries. Most med countries like Spain or Italy use Jewish sounding names. However Catholics generally name themselves after Jewish saints for whatever reason. Most Protestants [Germanics] view it as bad to be named after a saint. I am named after a Saint, Saint James....I hate my name and will never give a saints name to my son or daughter. The Protestants have better names that stick to their cultures. My middle name is a saints name and I want to change it legally.....I am named after Saint Patrick the murderer and destroyer of Irish culture and pagan religion. I hate the name Patrick....almost every Irish male has this name or middle name.

I've decided they will have good Franc names (Louis, Charles, Thierry, Gontran, Lothaire, Henri, Eudes, Hugues, Gondebaud, Amaury, Mondéry, Foulques...), which exceptions to honour particular saints or men, or just because I like it (Honorat, Marius, Palamède, Armand, Garin, Jovin, Parthénius, Bérenger, Nicolas, Jeanne, Loup, Grégoire, Éloi...).
There will be a Nicolas.

Names should be earned, not given yarharhar! It's shame that barely 1 in a hundred people are known by anything but their birth name.

Probably something simple that will suit them no matter what they do (can't really name a a kid Agnus in America...that's like an instant 10% hindrance wherever they go), but at least still has some meaning behind it.

More like an ethical rule in the past, in the present happens a lot, but certainly not that much
It mostly happens as giving respect to your parents.
The first kid usually takes the name from the father's parents' side.

We are 14 cousins from my mothers' side, and each of the guys/sons (3 sons/2 daughters) have a daughter named Angeliki)

Do Greeks name their children more Christian names or ancient Greek names usually?
More Christian because they are more. Or actually more common.
I mean, George , John, Kostas, Dimitris and Nikos probably make 40% of Greek male names !
(Nikos and Dimitris are ancient derived though, yet there is Saint Nicolaos and Sain Dimitrios)

It doesn't sound Arabic at all. Peter means "stone" in Greek, Petra is just the feminine form of it.

True it was imported into Arabic. The city name was given by the Greeks and they referred to northwest Arabia as stony Arabia, it was the capital of the Arabian Nabateans.

Those names are a plague.

In particular order:

Girls: Simin, Aleyna, Beste, Yezda, Delfin
Boys: Tuncay, Kubilay, Timuçin, Çınar, Yaman

All are secular except Aleyna. It's actually an interesting name; a name only used in Turkey. However; it's a word in Qur'an, but as a connecting phrase, therefore doesn't mean anything to Arabs. People use it out of naive religious feelings without any knowledge; and I respect that naivity. Some pain in the ass religious mongers are against the usage, and that's why I appreciate the name. It sounds lovely, despite being of Arabic origin. Also; it reminds me of my childhood love. I don't give a shit about it being an Arabic or Quranic word; (actually I found out that it even has a Western version like 'Alayna') I like it as a name, I like its usage and I wouldn't mind choosing it for my daughter. But my first option would be Simin; it's a relatively uncommon, exotic name and again reminds me of a childhood friend, never seen this name in anyone else since.

When it comes to boys; Tuncay sounds very cool, and it comes from a footballer that used to play in my team and I loved. Kubilay is one of the grandsons of Genghis Khan, and would be abbreviated like 'Kubi'. Timuçin is another name of Genghis Khan. It's not that I worship Genghis Khan; but I find these names cool, not uncommon but not mainstream either.

In particular order:

Girls: Feiichy, Feiiichy, Feiiiichy, Feiiiiichy
Boys: Stears, Stearss, Stearsss, Stearssss

All are secular names but obviously anti-semi Asian Orthodox civilization variants. They're actually very interesting names, names only used by Austro-Hungarian aristocrats. However; the name Stears, it's become a slur word in theapricity, but usually as a coping mechanism by people with great envy, therefore doesn't mean anything to theapricians. People use it out of trollish feelings without any knowledge; and I respect that naivity. Some pain in the ass proletarian working class peasant Romani trolls are against the usage, and that's why I appreciate the name. It sounds lovely, due to being of upper class Western civilizational Austro-Hungarian origin. Also; it reminds me of my current envy. I don't give a shit about it being used by trolls here but I like it as a name, I like its usage and I wouldn't mind choosing it for my children. But my first option would be Stearssss; it's a relatively uncommon, exotic name and again reminds me of a great Austro-Hungarian warrion, never seen this name in anyone else ever.

When it comes to boys; Stears sounds very cool, and it from a legend that roams this forum. Stearss is one of the variations of Stears, and would be abbreviated like 'DOM'. Stearsss is another name of Stears. It's not that I worship Stears; but I find these names cool, not uncommon but not mainstream either.
