Yes, nobody should doubt that, but unfortunately there is much more misinformed and IGNORANT people than knowledgeable people.

That said, many people that have never been to Spain (or Portugal), all what it comes to their mind when they think about Iberians is gypsy looking "toreros" and flamenco dancers. Something very funny, but that's how it is, particularly with many North Americans, but also with other Nationalities.

Here in U.S., where I am living for personal reasons, more than one time, some Asian people have told me thinks like: "you look American, how is that possible that you're from Spain??" :picard1: "You don't look Spanish" and funny things like that.

And it happens that some RIDCULOUS stereotypes about Iberians are so spread worldwide, that I even remember that I saw by TV a Japanese cartoon about football (soccer) that was named "Oliver Benji" or something like that. In one of the episodes of the Japanese cartoon, there was a football (soccer) game between Japan against Spain. And the "Spanish" players were portrayed as some kind of gypsy looking "morenos" who looked as much "Spanish" from Spain, as an African Negro would look German.
