It's more of a 'dark British' kind of look to me. It's interesting that people always go for Iberia. We have stronger links with France, and the pre-Roman inhabitants of Britain as they were, were pretty much a more northern extension of people in northern Gaul anyway. I think it's because dark Brits very often have a very western European look to them, that you also find in France and Iberia.

I think people (physical anthropologists) made up this Atlantid label for Mediterranid types of non-Southern European stock because being labeled Mediterranid is somewhat stigmatizing.

Iberian is an ethnic thing or sort of. There are several distinct types within the whole of "Iberians" and that includes the appearance of that guy. Anyway, if I didn't know his origins, by that picture alone, I wouldn't guess him straight way British.

Atlantids are not just a subtype of Mediterranids, fool! The North Atlantid which has no biological or genetical backing up is said to be the most commonly of the Atlantid types found in the British Isles. It is predominantly Nordic type with a principally darker hair colouring. It is most common in Wales or among people of Welsh descent. Most of the British and Irish belong to a very fair-skinned group which is typically Northern European, actually there are more Scandinavians, Balts, Germans, Dutch, Russians who tan better than them. This would never the case when we talk of Iberians. The universal phenotype in the British Isles population is Nordic, but of the Keltic type. The fact that there are Brits who could be dark is normal. There are dark-haired people in other Northern European populations as well in Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Netherlands, Russia but less in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland that's true. Well 30-40% of Britons are carriers of the red hair gene(whether light/dark/red-haired), well that's higher than any European countries including Scandinavian ones and definitely Iberia. The average ratio of red hair in Europe according to the BritishDna Project is 1.3%, while in Scotland it's around 13%! So the British/Irish cannot be Mediterraneans especially in the sense you're saying. The U.K. and Ireland also have the highest frequency of the lightest skin phototypes(I+II) in Europe, even higher than Scandinavia who are usually blonder-haired. There has just been an exaggeration of potraying British/Irish as dark. It is nonsense, if they were so dark why is red hair and/ fair skin more common among them than any other European populations? Genetically the U.K. and Ireland clusters with other Northern European countries especially closest to the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway and not with Iberia. Sorry!
