Maybe the Greeks in Australia are darker because they're from the Islands but most could pass as Greeks here. Not the couple in the middle though (the man).

I agree, although 8 isn't atypical, whereas 15 is depigmented but her features are normal. There are lighter types of afghan that are atypical

Greeks in Australia are mostly Pontian, Anatolian and Cypriot. All of which are genetically West Asian.

No. Cypriots are not even Greek by blood, they're genetically Levantine. Pontians are genetically closer to the Caucasus than to Greeks.

Anyone who is a native born Cypriot (i.e. their family traces to there over the generations) is genetically going to be Levantine more than Greek.

I guess is more or less an Eastern or Southern continuum,althought may be easy to isolate types and make a stereotype.

Yeah I agree, the mainland greeks have a Balkan imput, the Cypriots show a lot more med, armenoid types. Although the Cypriots can definitely pass in mainland

ok they do have bigger noses and the mainland greeks do look a little balkanic but the difference is not that big ....and also among the mainland greeks there are a few wogs who can pass in at least turkey

imo they both can fit in each others country and are no way as different as you make them out to be

Anyway to be consistent with the topic, Greeks who look Afghan may be Pontic Greeks, since Afghans have some sort of vague resemblance to the Caucasus and to long-headed Balkan peoples. I have seen Afghans who look Albanian and Bulgarian too.

The population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1921 that brought Greek Muslims to Turkey, and Christians living in Turkey to Greece, would have brought Pontic, Anatolian etc. Greeks to the mainland, and thus Caucasus type of elements.
