Haplogroup Q is rather mysterious in terms of its origin and rather unique transcontinental distribution;

Until now the geographic origin of the haplogroup, which according to McDonald is "lost in the mists of time," has been presumed to be Siberia.

A more realist explanation is, of course, that the mystery surrounding the origin and distribution of Haplogroup Q is due to the original geographic location for its origin being the former continent of Mu. Destroyed by cataclysmic events -probably a nuclear war with its better known rival Atlantis- in the prehistoric past.

The refugees from this once great civilisation would, of course, eventually find refuge in both the Eurasian and American continents that surround the former geographic location of the lost continent of Mu where they, as 19th-century traveler and writer Augustus Le Plongeon discovered, founded many ancient civilizations, such as those of Egypt and Mesoamerica. Today nothing physical remains of Mu except for underwater ruins and the genetic legacy found in all Haplogroup Q holders -the descendants of the survivors of this great lost continent- around the world.

Nothing mysterious about Haplogroup Q, it is Siberian.
