People often assume that the more blue eyes and blonde in a population, the more Northern European admixture there is.

2) People often assume that people in western Sicily have more 'Norman' genes and are more genetically northern because of their high percentage of blue eyes and blonde.. but like Ashkenazi Jews, these light eyes often come with hooked noses and Armenoid influence..

3) Blue eyes and "Celtic" appearances that could pass in the UK are higher in Galicia and northern Portugal than in most of Iberia, but there are higher North African, West Asian, and SW Asian genes there than in Andalusia, if you look at autosomal DNA.

4) There are higher amounts of blue eyes and blonde hair in the Levant than in neighboring regions, but there is no Northern European genetic influence there to result in people having those eyes.

5) Ashkenazi Jews have a large percentage of blue eyes and even blonde hair, but they have less Northern European genetic influence, than European groups that are on average darker than them!

1.) Please know what you are talking about next time!! Firstly, the reason why people automatically link blue eyes or other light eyes with blond/blonde hair, is because the bluest-eyed nations are found in Northern European countries which also have the highest frequency of blond/blonde hair reaching a frequency maximum in the Scandinavian and Baltic nations. A high frequency of blond hair in a European population, this means a higher frequency than the European average will in most cases signify Northern European admixture. Using Crete as an example is a joke or an example of irrationality. Crete and mainland Greece are both located within the Mediterranean region, so for the western part of Crete being slightly more blond-haired/blue-eyed than Greece doesn't mean much. Mainland Greece will offer naturally show a greater diversity than Cyprus due to a larger population. Northern Greece is still lighter than Cyprus though.

2.) Blue eyes in the United Kingdom? By the way, the United kingdom lays in the Northwestern quadrant of Europe and the most common eye colour in the U.K. is obviously blue (ScotlandsDNA Project 2014). Therefore whether "Celtic/Germanic" appearances will usually go with blue or light eyes in the part of Europe, anyway Celtic and Germanic people are closely related people who stem out from a larger group called "Beaker" people from the Bronze Age before they separated.

Sicily might have a "higher" percentage of Norman ancestry, nevertheless, it is still much lower than the total Northern European admixture found in Northern Italian regions such as Veneto or Piedmont. Sicily doesn't have a higher frequency of blue eyes than even the national average for in Italy, let alone than northern regions Italy.

Sicily (South Italy) = 7.7%
Veneto (North Italy) = 15.7%
We see the big difference.

Ashkenazi Jews don't really have a "large percentage" of people with blonde hair. I went to a high school that was 90% Ashkenazi and we had very few blondes.

However, I have been noticing more fully Jewish blonde people lately, and I'm not sure why that is. People here fetishize blonde hair and blue eyes a lot, which makes me really sad. I feel like the percentage of (fully blooded) Jewish blonde people born is the result of intense fetishism for blonde hair and blue eyes.

I noticed that among fully blooded Ashkenazim, a decent percentage of the very European looking ones (meaning they look somewhat Northern European) tend to have a strange look to them (like Mark Zuckerberg). Many others who have constant exposure to fully blooded Asheknazi Jews have said that they noticed this as well.
