It was even before that. I think the sterotype took off with Marilyn Monroe and the "blondes have more fun" thing. I use to prefer light eyes over dark eyes but i've changed my mind. I like all eye colors. I might even slightly prefer brown eyes over light eyes now. Sure, light eyes are nice to look at but I think other features are more important. Just because you have light eyes,it doesn't mean they automatically make you more attractive than someone who has darker eyes.

Light eyes are better looking, in my opinion. Faces that have dark eyes are often lacking some colour, blue/green eyes give some variation to the brown/creamy palette of human body. Red hair can also do the same, although I think light eyes work best with dark hair, it causes a nice contrast.
