Manager sues bank for record damages

A MUSLIM bank manager who claims she was accused of trying to sleep her way to the top is suing HBOS for record damages of £16.7 million for sex discrimination.
Mona Awad, a married 29-year-old corporate manager, says that two of her bosses falsely accused her of having sex with a client. Mrs Awad claims that area director John Harrison warned that he would only stop humiliating her in front of colleagues if she had sex with him.

A second bank director, Jason Holland, allegedly hurled a string of lewd taunts.

Mrs Awad, who is British-born but of Egyptian origin, says a third senior colleague asked her at a Christmas party whether she was an "active Muslim". When she asked what he meant, he allegedly replied: "Do you carry bombs on trains?"

Mrs Awad claims that she was warned that it was pointless complaining about her bosses because the bank was an "old boys' club" with an "endemic" sexist culture.

Mrs Awad, of Nottingham, is suing the bank, Mr Harrison and Mr Holland for discrimination on grounds of sex, race and religion.

I would go through that any day for that kind of money. Ridiculous.
