Atheism is generally more common in countries with a high standard of living, since people only believe in gods when they're unhappy. So Atheism isn't collapsing, it's actually the norm in much of Europe.
Religion is gaining speed globally, due to the recent global economic problems. However when things get better, religion will drop again.

Atheism is the rejection of organised religion due to a complete and utter lack of evidence. It is not a political statement, nor is it some cultural phenomenon. Adherents of religion never seem to bother letting the idea of a 'burden of proof' sink in.

There's something I never got about anti-atheist religious people. Would they rather we just lied to ourselves? Pretended to believe in something we clearly can't convince ourselves of? Is the facade of belief as satisfactory as blind faith itself?

They are limiting what EVERYONE can say in America. Fascist hate speech laws are going to apply to everyone.

There are two sorts of atheists. The older style atheists that just live and let live and the newer sorts that are aggressive and force their beliefs. The more aggressive sorts are people generally that have come from religious families or used to be religious themselves so they take a sensationalist approach to their newly discovered beliefs. They are pretty embarrassing. Not all atheists are liberal either though. In Europe it's quite common for someone to be conservative but also atheist.

As much as I despise all religions, I don't think anyone should be censored when speaking in a private establishment.
And yes, I do want all religious institutions to have to pay taxes. Though, I am afraid that "special interests" groups might find a way around it. Let's hope not.

Somehow, I can´t see collaps of atheism comming. Unless a world-wide economical collaps would come, because poverty and chaos would fuel religiosity.

We, Czechs, have had strong atheistic tendencies since circa first half of 19th century. Actually, it started as a mass protest of educated elite against bigoted church and organized religion, rather then rejection of god´s existence at first. This came later. Right after we got independce and freedom in 1918, 3,000.000 of Czechs left church officially with all the paperwork - that was 1/3 of our population. By 1945, slightly over 50% of our nation were already either atheistic or unaffiliated. In 2001, survey showed 2/3 are self-proclamed atheists. Only about 15% of Czechs still belong to some church, and only 2-5% take part in masses.

You won´t meet any radical atheists among Czechs. We are atheists in at least second or third generation. We don´t need to fight for our recognition in society or against attacks of religious fanatics, unlike American new atheists do. We consider religious people as a curiosity, akin exotic animals at a zoo.

Even within a race or ethnicity, Atheists tend to be smarter than Christians. Atheists also have higher paying jobs, which is one of the reasons they don't need to believe in a god in the first place. Better jobs leads to higher self esteem.
