What is of significance is that whatever else they are admixed with, it's enough to differentiate them from Europeans. Personally I see more Amerindian than SSA.

Puerto Ricans rarely look European. We only have around, at most, 10-15% AT MOST who look truly European. The majority are Pred Euro with good levels of admixture giving us a New World vibe.

To me they are more representative of Puerto Ricans as a whole. Cubans are either very Euro (95%+) or mulatto-pred SSA. While Puerto Ricans are around 70% Caucasian with the rest being Amerindian/SSA/MENA in varying degrees. And DR are basically mulattoes with minor Amerindian.

I think Puerto Ricans are European-dominant triracials (in ones with heavy African, European is still the largest component even if not exceeding 50%), Cubans are basically like the white and black populations in the US in terms of ratio of European to African (racial mixing was outlawed until 50 years ago), and Dominicans are like Cape Verdeans with some Amerindian.

What is likely to happen in Cuba is, since most of the people who come to the US from there are white, the island is going to be almost as black as the English and French speaking Caribbean within the next 50 years, I believe. Its a shame. Cuba, out of all the Caribbean nations, had the best chance at being a first world nation. Great culture, decent amount of resources, etc. But they fucked it up and then the US, till this day, is making sure they stay down.

It's because the wealthiest Cubans (land-owners, elites, business owners) came to the US to flee Castro, and the population in Cuba today is the African descended population that was historically marginalized and oppressed, so under those conditions it is unlikely they have the tools needed to become the new elites. It'd be like if every white American fled to Europe, and African Americans were the only population left. After being oppressed for so long, can they just jump into positions of leadership and out of poverty?

Castro obviously didn't understand that socialism doesn't work.
