there was recently this debate about gays in india, and whether it should be legal or not. and i noticed that on omegle (videochatroom) overproportionally many indians are gay who tried to hit me up. maybe i think that because i look india so they tried to hit me up, or for some other reason other gays didnt tried to hit me up, but most gays were indians so far. maybe since india forbids homosexuality they come on omegle to live their gay life.

men in india don't have a macho culture except in Punjab and Haryana. Maybe that adds to their homosexual urges and tendencies. But the fear of society keeps them in check

Mostly closet ones. Indians mock and ridicule gayeism and effeminate traits in men.

Homosexuality is generally considered a taboo subject by both Indian civil society and the government. Public discussion of homosexuality in India has been inhibited by the fact that sexuality in any form is rarely discussed openly. In recent years, however, attitudes towards homosexuality have shifted slightly. In particular, there have been more depictions and discussions of homosexuality in the Indian news media and by Bollywood. On 2 July 2009, the Delhi High Court decriminalized homosexual intercourse between consenting adults, throughout India, where Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code was adjudged to violate the fundamental right to life and liberty and the right to equality as guaranteed by the Constitution of India.

Several organizations like the Naz Foundation (India) Trust, the National AIDS Control Organization, Law Commission of India, Union Health Ministry,National Human Rights Commission and The Planning Commission of India have either implicitly, or expressly come out in support of decriminalizing homosexuality in India, and pushed for tolerance and social equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people. Indians among countries with a social element of a third gender.Religion has played a role in shaping Indian customs and traditions.

While homosexuality has not been explicitly mentioned in the religious texts central to Hinduism, the largest religion in India, Hinduism has taken various positions, ranging from positive to neutral or antagonistic. Rig-Veda, one of the four canonical sacred texts of Hinduism says Vikruti Evam Prakriti(what seems un-natural is also natural), which some scholars believe recognizes the cyclical constancy of homosexual/transsexual dimensions of human life, like all forms of universal diversities. Historical literary evidence indicates that homosexuality has been prevalent across the Indian subcontinent throughout history, and that homosexuals were not necessarily considered inferior in anyway.

In public parks, at six o'clock, men all over India gather to promenade and encounter one another. Yet, none of them are 'gay', and homosexuality "does not exist in India." Go figure.

Gay men percent in India could be 1/4th of Gays rate in US.
not more than 2%.

Many Indian bachelor men (including me) sleep in same bed with other Indian friends just to get sleep (no sex), they don't have any sexual thoughts.

Most Indian people won't accept gay couple as normal until 2050

I get that also.

No-one will ever accept a gay couple as normal because a gay couple will never be the norm, unless one is in Maspalomas in Gran Canaria, or Mykonos/Mount Athos, Greece.

Anyway, the deeply closeted society that India is allows for more physical closeness between males, because of the unthinkable nature of homosexuality within Indian society. That is surely good, but what must it be like, to be homosexual and Indian?

It has nothing to do with British influence.
Media exaggerate British impact a lot :picard2:

Some naturally born straight men in western world want to try something new (ridiculously), so just like dating different race they date man I think.

The only overtures I can see are all the muscle-bound actors stripping off. Apart from that, what's the evidence for your claim?
