How come?

30-40% of Trevisan population is of southern italian origin as you can see here

Btw, aragones politicians look panwestern/pansouthwestern.

Well yes - most of Northern Italy has had lots of internal migration from the South, hasn't it? I assume that map is of the percentage of people born outside each given province, right?

The Spaniards have more Atlanto-Med and Atlantid while the Italians have more Dinarid and Norid.

Peryol just answered-most of politicians are rarely native.

Yep, it is.
It's only about italian citizen and don't list foreigner immigrants.

But in the norteast, as in northwest, the immigration is mostly south--->north.

Rome and south Tuscany are a different thing, btw.

In terms of pigmentation they look roughly on par imo, but I suppose the facial traits are different as you say. Do you still maintain that Spaniards and Italians are worlds apart and should not be grouped together?

The major of my city is Galician and the previous one, Leonese. And I live in the South East.

Compared to sports teams and crowd photos filled with immigrants and tourists, they are. Besides, what is so un-Spanish or un-Italian about the samples above?

Well OK, but I'm sure some of the other local councillors must be truly native. Besides, moving around is perfectly normal in this day and age, not just in politics.

Worlds apart? No.
Should they be grouped together? Not to the exclusion of other groups.

I think that southern Italians look further from Spanish than do northerners though.

As it happens, I've just made a thread comparing Southern Spaniards and Southern Italians: http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?113732-Male-councillors-from-Murcia-SE-Spain-and-from-Bari-SE-Italy-compare-and-contrast

Southern Spanish look more Mediterranean.. some of those could pass as East Med. It's Galicians/Asturians, and Portuguese, who don't look like them.

In Zaragoza most of them must be natives of aragon and maybe some castillian from soria. There're more sorian in zaragoza than in Soria, or so they say.

The immigration to zaragoza is mostly internal, apart from foereigners.

Anyway the small cities are better to this purpose.

I'm not sure what Zaragoza is like now, but when I lived there (2005-06) its population was overwhelmingly Spanish, with the number of foreigners being fairly small. Btw, in case anyone doubts, neither the Spanish nor the Italian samples here feature immigrants.

Italian politicians are very unrepresentative. Moreover you make over 50 posts a day. Get a life!

Italian politicians are very unrepresentative.

Apart from a few exotic individuals - who can also be found elsewhere in Southern Europe - they look pretty normal. If they were all clones of Vincent Pastore and John Turturro then I'd understand your concern.

As I expected, Spaniards are better looking than Italians.

As it's been said, smaller towns are always better, and surnames should be checked. I know it requires some previous work, but that way one can be more accurate. In Spain, where you can check both the father and mother's lineages because both surnames are preserved, it's an even safer bet.

Italian ones are mainly Dinaro-Med, Spanish ones are mainly Atlanto-Med.

Quite close, in the sense that a Mediterranean element is dominant in both.
Saragozza. Quite uniform. Mainly fine featured Mediterranean (classic med) with some Alpine tendencies.
Treviso. Probably Med and Dinaric with minor Alpine tendencies.
