This is Shailene Woodley's Creole grandmother, who is supposedly of French, Spanish, African and Swiss ancestry.

I see NO black at all. Her maiden name is a Catalan one, moreover (Fauria).

NO. Where would you get that idea?

She is mostly Spanish given that both her parents surnames -- Martinez and Fauria -- are Spanish, but she has African in her.

"Shailene’s maternal grandmother was Diane Lynn Fauria (the daughter of Vernon Louis Fauria and Marguerite Lois Davis) the woman posted above ^^. Vernon was a Louisiana Creole and Maguerite was caucasian. Both of Vernon’s parents had black ancestry, mixed with caucasian. Vernon’s father, Joseph Mathews Fauria, was of African, Spanish, French, and German descent. Vernon’s mother, Aline Louise Martinez, had Spanish, African, and possibly French, ancestry. Maguerite Davis’s father may have had English ancestry. Maguerite’s mother, Shailene’s maternal great-great-grandmother, Evangeline Perinjacket, was the daughter of Swiss immigrants. This makes Shailene Woodley of 1/16th Swiss ancestry."

Must be very distant then, less than 1/8th by the look of her.
People usually 1/8th or less don't tend to look mixed race anymore, even if they are :)

Shailene Woodley's family is a classic case of One Drop Rule. Her grandfather is also supposedly "black" but the 1940 census had him listed as white. he could not have looked very black then.
