Groups are up and standing, rate your country's chances

Group easily 2nd, 1st place would not surprise me - then a heavy defeat in the 1st game of the knockout phase

Winner - I tip on France, the shittiest team always wins.

Go Ghana!

Ghana have a pretty damn good team, they'll surely be a trouble, possibly one of the 'surprises' of the championship.

I withdraw my number 1 pick as Ghana.

How about..

The team that falls down the least when they are tapped on the shoulder..

(that's why I don't know soccer..) :p

Easy group, but the 1/8 finals will be against Portugal, Brazil or Ivory Coast:(
For the winner i would bet for Brazil. England could have a chance too. And of course teams like Italy, Germany or France which are playing awfully in the last times are always very dangerous in the important competitions.

I know that this is football, and therefore not a matter of life and death, but rather something much more serious than that, but let's try to keep it civil, m'kay?

You mean when Yugoslavia kicked your ass and then cause of the war did not go to the championship, Danes took our places and won the thing?

Yeah, Idiots - fucking idiots, and Arshavin deserved never to play again for our national team, at least, Slovenia qualified so it's not all that bad, my gf's country - that would have been a tense football match if she would give a damn about the thing

Looks like we'll have an easy ride. But I don't think that the Netherlands should participate since the host country is the country that is killing off our kin.

You won't have any easy ride. Netherlands threw away the best chances in 74 and 78. Besides, it would be the first time an European nation would be winning the world cup outside the continent. The odds are small.

My happy worldcup will be winning over North Korea and not losing against Brazil by a too much humiliating margin. Everything beyond this is extra profit. Reaching the quarters will be more than we can expect.

Despite Spain having the best national side of all times, they will tremble for some unexplainable reason in the decisive moment... as always. Unfortunately but most likely the final will be Brazil against Germany or Italy. The suspects of always.

I also look at this third world cup with some disgust and lack of interest. The FIFA gang is engaged in this massive "Show Racism a Red Card" campaign, while they allow stadia to be named after some bloodthirsty cannibals of the ANC and SACP.

Is it maybe the time that one African nation wins the World Cup?

IT is something that has been talked for years now, predictions are that an African Nation will win a World Cup in the next 20 years period, which would be huge since only 8-12 years ago any African nation would be a cannon fodder for most European teams.

I just can't see Italy winning this one but who knows.

I remember very well Gary Lineker's England (probably the best English side ever) having almost lost to Cameroon in the quarters, only overcoming them with a weird extra-time penalty. England eventually lost to FRG on penalties, which won over Argentina with a penalty as well. So I think that they could have won.

In 1994 Nigeria was a tough bone too. Their 94 national team was basically the same which had reached the Under-21 Word Cup 5 years ago.

Well, following these two somewhat successful cups for Africa, in 1990 and 1994, eventually an African national team won in 1998. Third time lucky.

Most overrated player ever. He, Yuri Jerk-off and other Russian "talents" were beaten by better team - Slovenia. Algeria, USA and England are next.

But Arse-shaving, his Russian national team and their coach Goes Hiding will watch the World Cup on their telly...

Fixed.

Goes Hiding is interested in Ivory Coast, though.

I'd go for Serbia and Greece. Let's make the World cup a Balkan party :D
