The Turkish government still officially denies the Armenian genocide. The Germans have apologised 1,000 times to the Jews; the US has apologised to native Americans for their 19th-century ethnic cleansing; the Australians to the Aborigines, the British to the Irish, the Ukrainians to the Poles for their mass rape, pillage and massacres under German occupation after 1941. What is it with the Turks?

Some semi-official Turkish narratives now claim, in effect, that the Armenians actually carried out genocidal attacks on the Turks. Neo-Nazis and their scholarly enablers say that "the Jews" manufactured tall tales of the Holocaust in order to extort money and other concessions from postwar Germany. Neo-Confederates like Doug Wilson, a far-right pastor in Moscow, Idaho, tell their listeners with a straight face that the Civil War was nothing less than a defense of righteous Christian civilization and that blacks really didn't mind slavery. These lies all serve current agendas — to demonize and minimize the historical claims of Armenians, Jews, and African Americans.
- Mark Potok, the editor of Intelligence Report

When it comes to the historical reality of the Armenian genocide, there is no “Armenian” or “Turkish” side of the “question,” any more than there is a “Jewish” or a “German” side of the historical reality of the Holocaust: There is a scientific side, and an unscientific side acknowledgment or denial. In the case of the denial of the Armenian genocide, it is even founded on a massive effort of falsification, distortion, cleansing of archives, and direct threats initiated or supported by the Turkish state, making any “dialogue” with Turkish deniers highly problematic.

Quotes about the Armenian Genocide:

TALAT PASHA
In a conversation with Dr. Mordtmann of the German Embassy in June 1915

"Turkey is taking advantage of the war in order to thoroughly liquidate (grundlich aufzaumen) its internal foes, i.e., the indigenous Christians, without being thereby disturbed by foreign intervention. What on earth do you want? The question is settled. There are no more Armenians."

CEMAL PASHA
Minister of the Interior of Turkey publicly declared on March 15 that on the basis of computations undertaken by Ministry Experts:

"800,000 Armenian deportees were actually killed...by holding the guilty accountable the government is intent on cleansing the bloody past."

MUSTAFA ARIF
Minister of Interior stated on 13 December 1918:

"Surely a few Armenians aided and abetted our enemy, and a few Armenian Deputies committed crimes against the Turkish nation... it is incumbent upon a government to pursue the guilty ones. Unfortunately, our wartime leaders, imbued with a spirit of brigandage, carried out the law of deportation in a manner that could surpass the proclivities of the most bloodthirsty bandits. They decided to exterminate the Armenians, and they did exterminate them."

HENRY MORGENTHAU, SR.
U.S. Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire Ambassador Morgenthau's Story, 1919:
"When the Turkish authorities gave the orders for these deportations, they were merely giving the death warrant to a whole race; they understood this well, and, in their conversations with me, they made no particular attempt to conceal the fact. . . I am confident that the whole history of the human race contains no such horrible episode as this. The great massacres and persecutions of the past seem almost insignificant when compared to the sufferings of the Armenian race in 1915."

COUNT WOLFF-METTERNICH
German Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire July 10, 1916, cable to the German Chancellor:

"In its attempt to carry out its purpose to resolve the Armenian question by the destruction of the Armenian race, the Turkish government has refused to be deterred neither by our representations, nor by those of the American Embassy, nor by the delegate of the Pope, nor by the threats of the Allied Powers, nor in deference to the public opinion of the West representing one-half of the world."

JIMMY CARTER
May 16, 1978, White House ceremony:

"It is generally not known in the world that, in the years preceding 1916, there was a concerted effort made to eliminate all the Armenian people, probably one of the greatest tragedies that ever befell any group. And there weren't any Nuremberg trials."

RONALD REAGAN
April 22, 1981, proclamation:

"Like the genocide of the Armenians before it, and the genocide of the Cambodians which followed it, . . . the lessons of the Holocaust must never be forgotten."

PRIME MINISTER OF GREAT BRITAIN (1940-45, 1951-55)

"In 1915 the Turkish Government began and ruthlessly carried out the infamous general massacre and deportation of Armenians in Asia Minor." "There is no reasonable doubt that this crime was planned and executed for political reasons."

MUSTAFA "ATATURK" KEMAL

Founder of the modern Turkish Republic in 1923 and revered throughout Turkey, in an interview published on August 1, 1926 in The Los Angeles Examiner, talking about former Young Turks in his country:
"These left-overs from the former Young Turk Party, who should have been made to account for the millions of our Christian subjects who were ruthlessly driven en masse, from their homes and massacred, have been restive under the Republican rule."

PROF. COLIN TATZ, DIRECTOR, CENTRE FOR COMPARATIVE GENOCIDE STUDIES

The Turkish denial [of the Armenian Genocide] is probably the foremost example of historical perversion. With a mix of academic sophistication and diplomatic thuggery -- of which we at Macquarie University have been targets -- the Turks have put both memory and history into reverse gear.

Armenian Genocide of 1915: An Overview
By JOHN KIFNER
The New York Times

On the eve of World War I, there were two million Armenians in the declining Ottoman Empire. By 1922, there were fewer than 400,000. The others — some 1.5 million — were killed in what historians consider a genocide.

As David Fromkin put it in his widely praised history of World War I and its aftermath, “A Peace to End All Peace”: “Rape and beating were commonplace. Those who were not killed at once were driven through mountains and deserts without food, drink or shelter. Hundreds of thousands of Armenians eventually succumbed or were killed .”

The man who invented the word “genocide”— Raphael Lemkin, a lawyer of Polish-Jewish origin — was moved to investigate the attempt to eliminate an entire people by accounts of the massacres of Armenians. He did not, however, coin the word until 1943, applying it to Nazi Germany and the Jews in a book published a year later, “Axis Rule in Occupied Europe.”

But to Turks, what happened in 1915 was, at most, just one more messy piece of a very messy war that spelled the end of a once-powerful empire. They reject the conclusions of historians and the term genocide, saying there was no premeditation in the deaths, no systematic attempt to destroy a people. Indeed, in Turkey today it remains a crime — “insulting Turkishness” — to even raise the issue of what happened to the Armenians.

In the United States, a powerful Armenian community centered in Los Angeles has been pressing for years for Congress to condemn the Armenian genocide. Turkey, which cut military ties to France over a similar action, has reacted with angry threats. A bill to that effect nearly passed in the fall of 2007, gaining a majority of co-sponsors and passing a committee vote. But the Bush administration, noting that Turkey is a critical ally — more than 70 per cent of the military air supplies for Iraq go through the Incirlik airbase there — pressed for the bill to be withdrawn, and it was.

The roots of the genocide lie in the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.

The empire’s ruler was also the caliph, or leader of the Islamic community. Minority religious communities, like the Christian Armenians, were allowed to maintain their religious, social and legal structures, but were often subject to extra taxes or other measures.

Concentrated largely in eastern Anatolia, many of them merchants and industrialists, Armenians, historians say, appeared markedly better off in many ways than their Turkish neighbors, largely small peasants or ill-paid government functionaries and soldiers.

At the turn of the 20th Century, the once far-flung Ottoman empire was crumbling at the edges, beset by revolts among Christian subjects to the north — vast swaths of territory were lost in the Balkan Wars of 1912-13 — and the subject of coffee house grumbling among Arab nationalist intellectuals in Damascus and elsewhere.

The Young Turk movement of ambitious, discontented junior army officers seized power in 1908, determined to modernize, strengthen and “Turkify” the empire. They were led by what became an all-powerful triumvirate sometimes referred to as the Three Pashas.

In March of 1914, the Young Turks entered World War I on the side of Germany. They attacked to the east, hoping to capture the city of Baku in what would be a disastrous campaign against Russian forces in the Caucuses. They were soundly defeated at the battle of Sarikemish.

Armenians in the area were blamed for siding with the Russians and the Young Turks began a campaign to portray the Armenians as a kind of fifth column, a threat to the state. Indeed, there were Armenian nationalists who acted as guerrillas and cooperated with the Russians. They briefly seized the city of Van in the spring of 1915.

Armenians mark the date April 24, 1915, when several hundred Armenian intellectuals were rounded up, arrested and later executed as the start of the Armenian genocide and it is generally said to have extended to 1917. However, there were also massacres of Armenians in 1894, 1895, 1896, 1909, and a reprise between 1920 and 1923.

The University of Minnesota’s Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies has compiled figures by province and district that show there were 2,133,190 Armenians in the empire in 1914 and only about 387,800 by 1922.

Writing at the time of the early series of massacres, The New York Times suggested there was already a “policy of extermination directed against the Christians of Asia Minor.”

The Young Turks, who called themselves the Committee of Unity and Progress, launched a set of measures against the Armenians, including a law authorizing the military and government to deport anyone they “sensed” was a security threat.

A later law allowed the confiscation of abandoned Armenian property. Armenians were ordered to turn in any weapons that they owned to the authorities. Those in the army were disarmed and transferred into labor battalions where they were either killed or worked to death.

There were executions into mass graves, and death marches of men, women and children across the Syrian desert to concentration camps with many dying along the way of exhaustion, exposure and starvation.

Much of this was quite well documented at the time by Western diplomats, missionaries and others, creating widespread wartime outrage against the Turks in the West. Although its ally, Germany, was silent at the time, in later years documents have surfaced from ranking German diplomats and military officers expressing horror at what was going on.

Some historians, however, while acknowledging the widespread deaths, say what happened does not technically fit the definition of genocide largely because they do not feel there is evidence that it was well-planned in advance.

The New York Times covered the issue extensively — 145 articles in 1915 alone by one count — with headlines like “Appeal to Turkey to Stop Massacres.” The Times described the actions against the Armenians as “systematic,” “authorized, and “organized by the government.”

The American ambassador, Henry Morganthau Sr., was also outspoken. In his memoirs, the ambassador would write: “When the Turkish authorities gave the orders for these deportations, they were merely giving the death warrant to a whole race; they understood this well, and in their conversations with me, they made no particular attempt to conceal the fact.”

Following the surrender of the Ottoman Empire in 1918, the Three Pashas fled to Germany, where they were given protection. But the Armenian underground formed a group called Operation Nemesis to hunt them down. On March 15, 1921, one of the pashas was shot dead on a street in Berlin in broad daylight in front of witnesses. The gunman pled temporary insanity brought on by the mass killings and a jury took only a little over an hour to acquit him. It was the defense evidence at this trial that drew the interest of Mr. Lemkin, the coiner of “genocide.”

International Association of Genocide Scholars

In 1997 the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) passed a resolution unanimously recognizing the Ottoman massacres of Armenians as genocide.

That this assembly of the Association of Genocide Scholars in its conference held in Montreal, June 11–13, 1997, reaffirms that the mass murder of over a million Armenians in Turkey in 1915 is a case of genocide which conforms to the statutes of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. It further condemns the denial of the Armenian Genocide by the Turkish government and its official and unofficial agents and supporters.

— Among the prominent scholars who supported the resolution were: Roger W. Smith (College of William & Mary; President of AGS); Israel Charny (Hebrew University, Jerusalem); Helen Fein (Past President AGS); Frank Chalk (Concordia University, Montreal); Ben Kiernan (Yale University); Anthony Oberschall (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill); Mark Levene (Warwick University, UK); Rhoda Howard (McMaster University, Canada), Michael Freeman (Essex University, UK), Gunnar Heinsohn (Bremen University, Germany)

The IAGS has recognized the 1915 genocide in three different resolutions, the latest (October 5, 2007) extending the recognition to also include the Assyrians, Syrians, and Anatolian and Pontic Greeks among the affected minorities:
WHEREAS the denial of genocide is widely recognised as the final stage of genocide, enshrining impunity for the perpetrators of genocide, and demonstrably paving the way for future genocides;

WHEREAS the Ottoman genocide against minority populations during and following the First World War is usually depicted as a genocide against Armenians alone, with little recognition of the qualitatively similar genocides against other Christian minorities of the Ottoman Empire;

BE IT RESOLVED that it is the conviction of the International Association of Genocide Scholars that the Ottoman campaign against Christian minorities of the Empire between 1914 and 1923 constituted a genocide against Armenians, Assyrians, and Pontian and Anatolian Greeks.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Association calls upon the government of Turkey to acknowledge the genocides against these populations, to issue a formal apology, and to take prompt and meaningful steps toward restitution.[21]
The IAGS has repeatedly asserted that the Ottoman massacres of Armenians as genocide. For example, on March 7, 2009, in an open letter to President Obama, Gregory Stanton, President IAGS stated "we urge you to 'refer to the mass slaughter of Armenians as genocide in your commemorative statement,' as you urged President George W. Bush to do in a letter dated March 18, 2005".

In February 2002 an independent legal opinion commissioned by the International Center for Transitional Justice, concluded that the Ottoman massacre of Armenians in 1915–1918 "include[d] all of the elements of the crime of genocide as defined in the [Genocide] Convention, and legal scholars as well as historians, politicians, journalists and other people would be justified in continuing to so describe them".[23]From page 2 of the report:
This memorandum was drafted by independent legal counsel based on a request made to the International Center for Transitional Justice ("ICTJ"), on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding ("MoU") entered into by The Turkish Armenian Reconciliation Commission ("TARC") on July 12, 2002 and presentations by members of TARC on September 10, 2002.

From page 18, D. Conclusion:

... Because the other three elements identified above have been definitively established, the Events, viewed collectively, can thus be said to include all of the elements of the crime of genocide as defined in the Convention, and legal scholars as well as historians, politicians, journalists and other people would be justified in continuing to so describe them.

One of the cornerstones of a genocide is the very justification of actions which might otherwise incite hatred and opposition of their own group/population. The Nazis did this by blaming the Jews for being enemy of the state, in league with the Communists and to be "human disease". The parallel with the Armenian genocide is striking: the Armenians were accused then (as now in the denial campaign) to be in cahoots with the enemy. When the Armenians dared to ask for independence it constituted a threat to the Turkish nation and Anatolia, the core of the Turks' "homeland".

In fact, the leaders of the Union and Prorgess first tried to ensure themselves of Armenian cooperation and asked them to start an armed uprising in Eastern Armenia and Transcaucasia. In return, they were promised autonomy for Eastern Armenia and the neighboring regions of Western Armenia after the war. Dashnak-party leadership (the most significant Armenian political party of those days) rejected the proposal during its congress in August 1914, held in Erzurum, and replied that in the possibility of war between Turkey and Russia, the Armenians were obliged to fight for their respective countries. Just as Winston Churchill recalls, it was a case of "Armenians preferring war with brother-killing on two fronts above the Turk's proposal of treason against the Russians."

But even if there were a few battalions that fought on the Russian side, could their existence in the Caucasian front hardly in any way justify the Turkish government's genocide against the entire Armenian population. It suffices to recall that at the same time, there was a Czechoslovak battalion in the Russian Army at the Austrian front. But the Austro-Hungarian government never thought of the idea of eradicating the Czechoslovak people within their empire. Likewise, the Russian goverment always knew about the existence of a Polish battalion, led by future Marshal Pilsoleski, where a number of Poles from Russia fought in the Austro-Hungarian Army against Russia, but even here this did not result in Russia starting a genocide of all Poles in Poland under Russian rule. But why go so far away? From the very beginning of World War I, Turkey formed a Georgian unit for its war against Russia, but the Turks do not seem to be willing to acknowledge this unit, nor the Russians have carried out a genocide in Georgia because of this well-known fact.

The U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Henry Morgenthau, provided one of the most gut-wrenching descriptions of "The Murder of a Nation" in a report to his superiors, published after the war (the U.S. was at the time neutral in the conflict). He summarized the first strategy as follows:

"Whatever crimes the most perverted instincts of the human mind can devise, and whatever refinements of persecution and injustice the most debased imagination can conceive, became the daily misfortunes of this devoted people," Morgenthau summarized. "I am confident that the whole history of the human race contains no such horrible episode as this. The great massacres of the past seem almost insignificant when compared with the sufferings of the Armenian race in 1915."

Raphael Lemkin, who coined the term “genocide” in 1944, was the earliest proponent of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. He invoked the Armenian case as a definitive example of genocide in the 20th century. So did the United Nations War Crimes Commission in 1948. On September 10, 1984, a U.S. House Resolution resolved that “April 24, 1985, is hereby designated as `National Day of Remembrance of Man's Inhumanity to Man', and the President of the United States is authorized and requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe such day as a day of remembrance for all the victims of genocide, especially the one and one-half million people of Armenian ancestry.”

The following year, a United Nations report entitled “Study of the Question of the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide,” concluded that the Nazi Holocaust, in which 6 million Jews perished, “has unfortunately not been the only case of genocide in the 20th century. Among other examples which can be cited as qualifying are . . . the Ottoman massacre of Armenians in 1915-1916.”

On 24 April 1915, Turkish troops rounded up and killed hundreds of Armenian intellectuals. Weeks later, three million Armenians were marched from their homes – the majority towards Syria and modern-day Iraq – via an estimated 25 concentration camps.

In 1915, The New York Times reported that “the roads and the Euphrates are strewn with corpses of exiles… It is a plan to exterminate the whole Armenian people.” Winston Churchill would later call the forced exodus an “administrative holocaust”.

"Armenians of Erzerum, for example, were sent on their death march to Terjan and then to Erzinjan and on to Sivas province. The men would be executed by firing squad or hacked to death with axes outside villages, the women and children then driven on into the desert to die of thirst or disease or exhaustion or gang-rape. In one mass grave at Hurgada in present-day Syria, there were thousands of skeletons, mostly of young people – their teeth were perfect."

"German soldiers sent to Turkey to reorganise the Ottoman army also witnessed these atrocities. Armin Wegner, an especially courageous German second lieutenant in the retinue of Field Marshal von der Goltz, took a series of photographs of dead and dying Armenian women and children. Other German officers regarded the genocide with more sinister interest. Some of these men, as Armenian scholar Vahakn Dadrian discovered, turn up 26 years later as more senior officers conducting the mass killing of Jews in German-occupied Russia."

This website is an interactive academic tool for CEA-UNH course: International Human Rights: Universal Principles in World Politics

One of the most graphic documentaries on the genocide of the Holocaust that graphically walked the viewer through a story line of victims.

Genocide: the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group

The graphic nature of genocide has been seen from the African American, Armenian, and Jewish culture. There are other areas that still encourage such harsh treatments, but the documentary mainly focuses on the harsh living conditions, gas chambers, and seperation of families during the time of the Holocaust.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EfN1QIu9mnQ/Tdf7D6Q_nOI/AAAAAAAAALA/iDo1ZLZ6z_c/s1600/210px-NY_Times_Armenian_genocide.jpg

Many historical events are shunned from record books, and the Armenian genocide is one that many people try to erase some say it was one of the first known genocides. To this day many people try not to acknowledge that it happened.

"The starting date of the genocide is conventionally held to be April 24, 1915, the day that Ottoman authorities arrested some 250 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople. Thereafter, the Ottoman military uprooted Armenians from their homes and forced them to march for hundreds of miles, depriving them of food and water, to the desert of what is now Syria. Massacres were indiscriminate of age or gender, with rape and other sexual abuse commonplace. The majority of Armenian diaspora communities were founded as a result of the Armenian genocide."

The documentary takes the history of the genocide back in a time where such words were not even used to describe the event. The Turks still stand by the term being used in a very extreme manner.

Ambassor Morgenthau's Story is fake. Here is the story of the book which Armenians show as one of the main source of their so-called genocide allegations.

Usa's ambassador to Istanbul Mr Henry Morgenthau Sr. came to Istanbul in 1913, he left in 1916 and he only spent 780 days in Istanbul. He didnt get 10 km out of Istanbul during this 780 days. He never went to the East. The most distant location he had been to was Belgrade Forest, he had been to Greece and Palestine by ship and returned by the same way. He never witnessed to any of the incidents Armenians claim. He only wrote what he heard from others. The author is not even himself.Morgenthau's translator at the embassy, Arshag Schimavonian and his assistant Hagop Andonian went to Usa with him during his return.

When the need for Usa to join to World War I which started in Europe between European countries appeared, Morgenthau told Us President Wilson that he can write a book which blames Germans and Ottoman Empire and got the approval for writing the book. The majority of the book is about what Arshag Schimavonian and his assistant Hagop Andonian told. They didnt see any of the things they claimed in real life either but they heard from others, some of them they used their imaginations about. The author is not even Morgenthau himself, its Pulitzer award owner Mr Burton J. Hendrick. Hendrick wrote Arshag and Hagop's stories and notes to Morgenthau's diary like he heard them from a voice recorder with an effective literature methodology and he made up the so-called "Ambassord Morgenthau's Story" book. Mr Hendrick received 15.000 us dollars for the book which equals to over 1 million dollars today.

How many genocide centers and related genocide bodies are sponsored by Armenians?

-The Holocaust Memorial Center in Washington that went on to recognize the Armenian "Genocide", had a significant donation in the form of 1 million dollars from a wealthy Armenian who later reneged on his promise, not unlike the time when Armenia, after her post World War 1 formation, reneged on a 50 million dollar loan at %5 interest, from the United States government. Afterwards betraying the USA by willingly, according to the young nation’s first prime minister's 1923 Manifesto, joining the Soviet Union. Another New York University building is going up in Greenwich Village, The Kevorkian Institute of Near East Studies.

-Doctor Stephen Feinstein and his Affiliated Faculties and other parties associated with the University of Minnesota's Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, CHGS. The center is financed by at least one wealthy Armenian sponsor. They even forged a Talat Pasha telegram.

-Armenian Assembly of America, with a $2.5 million budget for the "Armenian Genocide Reaffirmation".

-There are so many powerful Armenians in France. Armenian organization, the AGBU, today has an annual budget of 27 million dollars. This is only one of many powerful Armenian organizations throughout the world. Albeit likely among the better financed.

-The Armenians have perhaps around 50 full time professionals in Washington DC doing nothing but working each and every day to undercut Turkey and Azerbaijan and promote themselves for more foreign aid and taxpayer funding. Armenians, in the last 10 years, have probably spent about 14 million dollars to support all the political candidates they favored. When those candidates got elected, Armenia got 1.4 billion dollars in the same 10 years as American aid. That is, for every 1 dollar Armenian Americans "invested", they got $100 back in American Aid to Armenia, 100 to 1 return.

(Samuel Weems, pro-Armenians may not like Sam Weems but the only relevant matter is whether these facts and figures are correct)

Did the UN recognize the Armenian "Genocide" ? Armenian Assembly of America said yes and claimed UN recognition by the year 2000.

-The United Nations has not approved or endorsed a report labeling the Armenian experience as "Genocide", UN spokesman Farhan Haq declared on October the 5th, 2000.

-The Armenian "Genocide" cannot be labeled as a genocide, as the 1948 UN Convention presents in its articles that there must be "intent", never proven with genuine evidence and the targeted group's political alliance may present a problem. The Armenians were allied with the Russians and French. Most people interpret "genocide" as what happened to the Jews under Hitler.

Why are the "genocide scholars" so dogmatic?

-They are brainwashed and bigoted. Like Henry Morgenthau, they have a deep rooted belief that the Turks are savage by nature and must have been guilty.

-As Professor McCarthy has speculated, some who are Jewish have an irrational fear rejection of the Armenian "Genocide" will cause some to question the Holocaust's validity.

-Some need to justify their positions as genocide scholars, a relatively new field of study and one that doesn't call for the promulgation of all these genocide centers, the Armenian "Genocide" is simply too hard to let go.

-Most cynically, they are being sponsored by the deep pocketed Armenians and they are under "orders". Some serve as spokesman and make cash on the side by giving talks on the "Armenian Genocide".

-Also, there is no chance for a "genocide scholar" to reject what others accept. They all have to "agree" on the issue as a body.

-Blindly holding on to the biased Morgenthau, Bryce missionary "reports" of pro-Armenian New York Times as "evidence" does not define a true scholar. A true scholar must be objective, neutral and a honest truth seeker.

Resolutions are worthless and have no legal meaning. These "Resolutions" merely express the thoughts of the officials who vote for them. The sneaky Armenian plan all these years has been to get these resolutions passed, just so they can say "the world agrees with us".

"Immediately after the war, when events and memories were fresh, Armenians had no intention to provide high casualty figures or genocidal motivations for their deaths. Their objective was statehood. Armenians were encouraged by the self-determination concept in President Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Points. Armenian leaders pointed to their military contribution to defeating the Ottomans and population figures that would sustain an Armenian nation. When their quest for statehood ship-wrecked on the Treaty of Lausanne and annexation by the Soviet Union in 1921, Armenians revised their soundtrack to endorse a contrived genocide thesis. Armenians increased the number of deaths. They also altered their story line from having died as belligerents against the Turks to having perished like unarmed helpless lambs. After statehood was lost, Armenians turned to their genocide playbook which exploited Christian bigotries and contempt for Ottoman Muslims. They remembered earlier successful anti-Ottoman propaganda.

Almost a century later, the number of deaths they assert changes between 1.5-2 million. But the best contemporary estimates by Armenians or their sympathizers were 300.000-750.000, compared with the 2.4 million Ottoman Muslim deaths in Anatolia. From 280.000-750.000, Armenians initially raised their death count to 800.000 to test the credibility waters. It passed muster with uninformed politicians easily influenced by campaign contributions and voting clout. Armenians then jumped the number to 1.5 million, and then 1.8 million by Armenian historian Kevork Aslan. For the last decades, an Armenian majority seems to have settled on the 1.5 million death plateau. They are now testing the waters at 2.5-3 million killed as their chances for a congressional genocide resolution recede. Armenian genocide allegations are extremely baseless. During Reagen's presidency in 1981, the subject was investigated by the White House and the Armenian allegations were proven to be false with archive documents."

Concrete evidences on massacres of defenceless Turkish civilians are surfacing one by one since 1986.The discovery of the mass grave belonging to 300 Turks in Oba, a village in Igdir-Turkey, was followed by the excavations of 9 other mass graves found in Erzurum, Kars, Van and Igdir. In these mass graves, a total of 2300 skeletons that belong to Turks were discovered. The findings proved that Armenians did not discriminate between the children, women, the young and the old, they were all tortured and killed. The burnt skulls unearthed from the mass graves were screaming the truth out to the world. The findings of pieces from the Quran and cigarette cases with the star and crescent emblem and rosary beads disclosed every detail of these attrocities and prove that these murdered people were Turks. These mass graves and all their findings document how the Armenians massacred thousands of Turks in the region between 1918-1920.The historical documents in the archives and testimonies of eye witness accounts confirmed the events and are enough to expose the scale of the massacres.

Turkey tries to have genocide history rewritten
INDEPENDENT
by ROBERT FISK
The shocking pictures that Turkey is trying to stop us from seeing

Not content with denying the truth of the Armenian Holocaust of 1915,
Turkish officials are now trying to undermine the veracity of the
photographic evidence of the genocide that killed a million and a half
Armenians during the First World War. Following a letter of complaint from
the Turkish embassy in London this week, the Hulton Getty picture library
has withdrawn three famous photographs of slaughtered Armenians from its
website, preventing their use by the media.

One of the pictures - a now-famous image of an Armenian girl and two small
children lying dead amid garbage at the height of the genocide - was taken
by the German photographer Armin Wegner and has been regularly distributed
by Hulton to newspapers for many years. But a letter from a Turkish
embassy official in London - who signed his name only as "Korkmazhaktanir"
- objected to the picture's caption, which stated that the dead were
victims of the Turkish massacres. The dead, according to the Turkish
official, had obviously only "starved" to death.

This extraordinary argument - which would presuppose that Jews starved to
death by the Nazis in the Second World War could not be counted victims of
the Jewish Holocaust - did not impress Hulton's general manager, Mathew
Butson. "This picture was used recently by both The Independent and The
Times and the key word the Turks objected to in our caption was
'massacred'," he says. "We always routinely examine such complaints and
temporarily withdrew these images from our files. But we believe the
information in our caption is correct.

"The argument that these Armenians weren't 'massacred' just because they
were starved is not acceptable. The Turkish letter went on about how
starving can't be part of a massacre. I think that because of their application to join
the EU, the Turks want to 'clean' their history - but this isn't the way to do it."

The Turkish government has been mounting an increasingly expensive
lobbying campaign to deny the fact of the Armenian Holocaust, funding
academic chairs at American universities - in which professors invariably
questioned the details of the genocide - and threatening economic boycotts
against European countries that acknowledge the Armenian massacres. When
President Jacques Chirac last month publicly accepted the genocide as
fact, Turkey cancelled arms and construction contracts with France worth
millions of pounds.

Claiming that the Armenians died in "civil unrest" and that the Armenian
population supported Turkey's First World War enemies, the present Turkish
government has consistently denied eyewitness evidence at the time -
including that of US diplomats and missionaries - that the genocide was
organised and carried out on the specific orders of Ottoman Turkey's
rulers. Planning his extermination of European Jewry in the 20th century's
second Holocaust, Hitler asked his generals: "Who now remembers the
Armenians?"

Turkey's embassies abroad have seized every opportunity to prove Hitler's
question valid. The mass execution by firing squads of tens of thousands
of Armenian men and the starvation, rape and killing of equal numbers of
women and children during the mass deportations to the deserts in 1915
have no place in Turkish history books. And, so far as the Turks are
concerned, no place in anyone else's history books.

During its research, however, Hulton concluded that it did not hold the
copyright to the three photographs taken - at great personal risk - by
Wegner in 1915 and 1916. Mr Butson now says that they belong to an
Armenian historical archive in Germany, a fact confirmed by Tessa Hofmann
of the Centre for Documantation and Information on Armenia in Berlin - who
says that all three photographs were taken by Wegner and show victims of
the Armenian genocide. "The rights to these photos are owned by the
Schiller Literary National Archive in Marbach, here in Germany," she says.

"They hold items from the Wegner estate and gave us the rights to copies
of photographs that relate to the Armenian genocide, courtesy of Wegner's
second wife, who is still alive and now lives in Israel."

According to Mrs Hofmann, Wegner - although under strict Turkish
instructions to take no pictures - photographed the dead Armenians during
and after visits to Turkish concentration camps in the Syrian desert near
Aleppo. "We cannot be sure the picture of the three bodies is of a mother
and her two children - only that it is a girl and two children. But the
pictures are perfectly genuine. In his diary, Armin records seeing all
these bodies of starved Armenians around the camps and of taking their
photograph. He wrote that many of the bodies had become 'petrified', stiff
and unchanging after death."

Ironically, the first copy of the photograph of the three dead Armenians
traced by The Independent comes from an American journal also called The
Independent and was published on 18 October, 1915. The caption to the
picture printed then states that "these victims of Turkish cruelty were
driven out to suffer extremes of hunger and hardship in their wanderings
through the desert where so many thousands like them also died. Shown here
is a mother and her two children found in the desert." The accompanying
article begins: "The most extensive, the most atrocious of religious
massacres which the world has seen for centuries is now being perpetrated
in Turkey..." In fact, it was not until the end of the First World War
that the full extent of the Armenian Holocaust - up to a million and a
half murdered by the Ottoman Turkish regime - became clear.

Mrs Hofmann says she is ready to give permission for newspapers to use the
Wegner photographs of the genocide. (Her e-mail address is
tessah@d-armenier.de and her centre is principally involved in the
identification of Wegner's Armenian photographs).

It wasn't his intention, but Mr Korkmazhaktanir's letter to Hulton may
have helped to disseminate this invaluable photographic evidence of the
Armenian Holocaust even further.

The mass grave in Guba was discovered during a stadium construction. Around 400 skeletons were discovered, most of them belong to women, old men and children. The most significant feature of this massacre is no firearms were used, only knives and swords were used. 150.000 Turks were killed like this in whole Azerbaijan geography, only 16.000 people were killed in Guba. 122 villages were destroyed, mosques were burned.

I have a simple question for you(Turks). What do you believe happened to all the Armenians, Assyrians, and Pontic Greeks living in the Ottoman Empire? Do you think they miraculously disappeared?

Remembering the Assyrian Genocide
Atman is one of the most well-known lecturers on the Assyrian Genocide.

Sabri Atman—We Assyrians call the genocide of 1915 Seyfo, meaning “the sword.” The reason we called it the sword was that the perpetrators were using Seyfo as a weapon for the killings. Seyfo is a term that seeks to highlight the Assyrian share of the genocide, perpetrated against the Armenians and Greeks as well, during the First World War. The genocide that wiped out more than half the population of the Assyrians took place mainly in southeastern Turkey, but also in the northwestern town of Urmiya in Iran.

The Assyrians initially put the number of their victims at 250,000 people in both the Turkish territories and Urmiya, Iran. But, the Assyrian delegation to the Lausanne peace talks of 1923 presented the number of victims as 275,000, since they had collected more information on the numbers of those who perished. But, according to some scholars, up to 400,000 civilian Assyrians perished in the systematic killings, which were ordered and carried out by the Ottoman state, with the collaboration of its Kurdish subjects and with troops and divisions of the regular Ottoman military and police forces combined.

Newspaper published by The Scotsman on July 20th 1915 entitled, Greek Population of Turkey, A Crisis At Aivali

According to various sources the Greek death toll in the Pontus region of Anatolia ranges from 300,000 to 360,000. Estimates for the death toll of Anatolian Greeks as a whole are significantly higher, a team of American researchers found in the early postwar period that the total number of Greeks killed may approach 900,000 people.

According to the figures by the Greek government a total of one million people were estimated to be massacred.[47]
According to the International League for the Rights and Liberation of Peoples, between 1916 and 1923, up to 350,000 Greek Pontians were reportedly killed in massacres, persecution and death marches. Merrill D. Peterson cites the death toll of 360,000 for the Greeks of Pontus. According to George K. Valavanis "The loss of human life among the Pontian Greeks, since the Great War (World War I) until March 1924, can be estimated at 353,000, as a result of murders, hangings, and from punishment, disease, and other hardships."

Constantine G Hatzidimitriou writes that "loss of life among Anatolian Greeks during the WWI period and its aftermath was approximately 735,370."[51] Edward Hale Bierstadt states that "According to official testimony, the Turks since 1914 have slaughtered in cold blood 1,500,000 Armenians, and 500,000 Greeks, men women and children, without the slightest provocation."At the Lausanne conference in late 1922 the British Foreign Minister Lord Curzon is recorded as saying "a million Greeks have been killed or have died."

In 1916, Emanuel Efendi, a Ottoman deputy, said that "550,000 Greeks... were killed."

*** Turk Genocide Committed by The Greeks

During April of 1821, there was 20.000 Muslims living in Greece and their main source of income was agriculture. In less than 2 months, most of them were massacred after the uprising started.Men, women, children were murdered with-out mercy and regret.

The uprising against Ottoman Empire started on the March of 1821 with the murders of Ottoman officals.A general assault on Turks in Peloponnese in Southern Greece followed it on April.During this assault, Greek guerillas and villagers literaly killed every Turk they found.

The ones in Kalavryta and Kalamata surrendered to Greeks after their safety was guaranteed. But they were killed too. Most of the Turks that escaped, were massacred on the roads in Lakonia region.

Christian population, attacked to Muslims in every part of the peninsula and killed them all.Not to leave the ones who managed to take shelter in fortresses a hope to return, they burned and damaged the properties and houses of Muslims.

It is estimated that from 26th of March until Sunday, 22nd of April which was Easter, 1821, 15.000 Muslims were murdered and 3000 Turkish farm houses and residences were damaged and burned.

The slogan of the uprising with the words of Greek, Patras Archbishop Germanos was "Peace for Christians, respect for ambassadors, death to Turks."
On April, the uprising expanded and the large scale massacres of Turkish men, women and children continued.

"There wont be any Turk left in the world and in Peloponnese", became the slogan of the act of extermination. The Muslim population was 25.000.In the next 3 weeks after the start of the uprising, majority of Muslims didnt manage to survive. When Greeks were asked about what happened to Turks?, they were shameless enough to say "the moon swallowed them".

In Missolonghi, most of the Muslims were murdered, but Turkish women were enslaved by rich Greek families. In Vrakhori, Turks were tortured and murdered.Jews that were considered as infidels, were massacred too as much as Turks by Greeks as well.

(History Of The Greek Revolution by George Finlay, Published in 1864)

*** The massacre of Turks in Greece, was not an ordinary extermination that happened during war time.Entire Turkish population including women and children were taken and murdered by Greek guerillas. The only rare exception was very few women and children were enslaved.

For three days, defenseless Turkish settlers were the victims of savagery and brutality. No exception was made about sex or age.Even women and children were tortured before getting killed. The scale of the massacre was so massive that the leader of Greek guerilla forces Kolokotrones said "after I entered to town, my feet didnt touch the ground" regarding the corpses in Tripolitza. The murders seemed systematic and planned more than just an explosion of hate against the Ottoman Empire.

More examples of Greek Barbarism

*** As soon as Greek troops landed in Izmir on May 15 1919 and blessed by the traitorous Ottoman Greek Chrysosthomos, the Greeks began their acts of butchery in plain sight of numerous European and other witnesses, many of whom reported the evil acts.

The Commanding Officer of the USS Arizona wrote,

"Old men, unarmed and other unoffending civilian Turks were knocked down by the Greeks, killed by stabbing with knives and bayonets and then afterwards, having their valuables and clothing stripped off their bodies, were thrown into the sea.In one instance, the man was again shot after being thrown into the sea, this by Greek soldiers.
Mobs of local Ottoman Greeks joined in the fray, throughout the city's neighborhoods, helped by Greek soldiers. Many hundreds of Turks were killed while their stores were being pillaged. In one case, a town was told by the Greeks that it would be spared upon payment of 500 gold liras, once paid and the town was sacked."

-As the Greek army fanned out from Izmir into the heartland, the pattern remained the same. Turkish police, soldiers and villagers were compelled to surrender their arms which were then distributed to local Christians, Greeks and Armenians, allowing the mayhem and terror to continue.

-The Muslim mortality for western Anatolia alone was 1.246.068 between 1912 and 1922, and of this figure, 640.000 civilians died as a result of the Greco-Turkish War.

Genocidal Muslim Country Warns of Genocide if Europe Doesn’t Accept Muslims
April 13, 2013 by Daniel Greenfield

Turkey not only committed genocide against Christians, but it still lies about it and locks up its citizens who even mention the genocide. It’s also violently anti-semitic underits current Islamist government.

So that means the time is right for its government to hypocritically warn Europe that the failure to accept Muslim immigrants could lead to another Holocaust.

European countries will face new humanitarian tragedies leading to mass killings of people if they continue in their failure to embrace tolerance toward different cultures and religions, President Abdullah Gül has warned.

“Islam and migrants have been a reality in Europe for centuries. As long as the continent of Europe doesn’t approach segments which are different from the majority with tolerance, particularly in regards to religion, an occurrence of new inquisitions and Holocausts, as well as incidents evoking Srebrenica, are probable,” Gül said yesterday.

No doubt Turkey could be a model of tolerance for Europe.

Turkey has huge numbers of Kurdish political prisoners, some locked up for merely speaking their language or singing nationalistic songs.

Turkey not only refuses to acknowledge its Armenian genocide, but Erdogan, its thuggish Islamist leader, threatened Armenians with ethnic cleansing if they keep complaining about it.

And oh yes… Turkey has been carrying out surveillance of its Jewish community.

Racism and a lack of tolerance of different cultures and lifestyles are some of the chronic diseases in Western societies, Gül said, drawing attention to the increase in support for political parties which portray migrants as the main reason for societal problems in European countries such as safety, unemployment, crime and poverty.

Speaking of racism, the Afro-Turks, the descendants of African slaves from the Ottoman Empire, are routinely discriminated against and referred to as Arabs. (That tells you something about the affection that Turks have for Arabs and their notion of whiteness.)

“Ninety percent of the Afro-Turks are poor, with little education. Most of the men have no job, and of course nor do the women.”

And when it comes to its treatment of African migrants, Turkey isn’t doing so well either.

The scholar also said North Africans and Sub-Saharan Africans were subjected to differing degrees of discrimination in Turkey.

“There are substantial differences among the two groups: North Africans are Arab in culture and mostly Muslim, whereas Sub-Saharans are not Arab in culture and are mostly Christian,” he said, adding that the first group was subject to less discrimination from Turkish society.

Islam is an important “bridge” Africans use to penetrate Turkish society, although it does not completely negate the race factor, Şaul said. “Black skin marks people out, and it socially affects their lives very negatively.”

Many, however, remember the death of Nigerian migrant Festus Okey, who was shot and killed at Beyoğlu police station on Aug. 20, 2007. There is much controversy over the circumstances of Okey’s death, although authorities have established that the bullet that killed the man came from a police gun.

But let’s hear more from President Gul about racism being a European disease.

“When politics begins ‘otherizing’ a segment, then we see the alienation of migrants and minorities from the country in which they live and from the society in which they live as an inevitable consequence.”

Gul blathers about Otherizing, but it’s Erdogan who urged Turks in Germany not to assimilate and to remain Turks. You can’t colonize another country with settlers and then complain that you’re being otherizing when you’re otherizing yourself as part of a nationalistic and theocratic program of conquest.

Some history for the turd:

http://www.australianislamistmonitor.org/images/stories/scourgeofslavery11.jpg

This article concentrates on the slave trade of people from Eastern Europe, Balkans, and Asia Minor/Byzantium: Remember, Mohammad (allah) demanded jihad/war until all the religion is allah’s—it cannot go away and nor can the associated slavery and dhimmitude. (see comments from 20th century Muslims and others on the ongoing desire for jihad Bostom p 94-104). Both Ottoman Turkey and Shiite Iran openly practised slavery in the 20th century. The last Ottoman sultan had a British captive in his harem, 20th century (Khan p325). Slavery continues throughout the Islamic world today.

Europe, Asia Minor, the Balkans etc were initially attacked by Arab Muslims, then Muslim Turks and Tartars attacked central and eastern Europe (11th-15th century), Muslim Tartars attacked Poland and Muscovite Russia (15th-17th century); and Asia Minor was attacked by Seljuk and Ottoman Turks (11th-15thC ) while Persia, Armenia, and Georgia were attacked by many Muslim groups including Shiite Safavids.

From the 11th century, particularly as Arab power was waning, the Turks moved out into the middle-east eg Syria, Palestine and spread through Asia Minor (much of today’s Turkey) to North Africa and into the Balkans/Eastern Europe.

Islamic slavery, destruction, conquest and dhimmitude
Bat Ye’r notes:

“The two waves of Muslim expansion, the Arab from the seventh century and the Turkish from 4 centuries later-are remarkably similar....the great Arab and Turkish conquerors used the same military tactics and the same policies of consolidating Islamic power. This continuity resulted from the fact that the conquests took place within the framework of the common ideology of jihad and the administrative and judicial apparatus of the sharia- a uniformity that defies time, since it adapts itself to diverse lands and peoples, being integrated into the internal coherence of a political theology. In the course of their military operation, the Turks applied to the conquered populations the rules of jihad, which had been structured 4 centuries earlier by the Arabs and enshrined in Islamic sacred law. (Bostom p 60)”

Malik Shah (1072-1092) The Seljuk Empire

In Anatolia (Asia Minor/Turkey), the Islamic frontier, during the 11th and 12 th centuries, ‘warriors of Islam’(ghazi) came to fight infidels and obtain booty in the Seljuk and Ottoman Turk jihad campaigns. These groups, including nomadic tribes were champions of Islam, dedicated to fighting the infidels around them.

“the ideal of gaza, holy war. Was an important factor in the foundation and development of the Ottoman state.,....continuous expansion of Dar al-Islam....until they conquered the whole world.” (contemporary Turkish scholar of Ottoman history, Halil Inalcik ...Bostom p 61)

“From the very beginning....the Turks tried to consolidate their position by the forcible imposition of Islam. If (the Ottoman historian) Sukrullah is to be believed, those who refused to accept the Moslem faith were slaughtered and their families enslaved. “Where there were bells, Suleiman broke them up and cast them into fires. Where there were churches he destroyed them or converted them into mosques....” (quoted in Bostom p 63-64)

Dervishes worked to spread religious fervour, took part in military acts and were given land and privileges from rulers.

The conquest of Asia Minor occurred over 4 centuries. It took the Turks about 2 centuries to conquer the Balkans (today’s Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, European part of Turkey, Bosnia-Herzegovina) with incalculable ruin of material goods, massacre, enslavement, exile, destruction of farming, destruction of trade, depopulation, reduced productivity, and destruction of the normal exchange of knowledge around the Mediterranean and through Christian and Jewish societies, plus colonisation by Muslims---as also occurred in the conquest of Asia Minor. The states of Byzantium, Bulgaria, Serbia...had reached a high level of economic and cultural development before the Muslim attacks. The conquest of the Balkan peoples was disastrous and for centuries trammelled their normal economic and social development (Angelov p 463) Yet it’s described as a blessing for the population (they had the chance to become Muslim) and we are fed lies of ‘peace’ and economic unity. The Turks didn’t have a ‘higher culture’ or better civic organisation—they were semibarbarian tribes bent of pillage and war, enriching themselves with ‘booty.’(estates, slaves, money, jewels) and rendered fanatical by the dogmas of Islam (Angelov p 463, 464, 465)

The conquest of the Balkan Peninsular by the Turks meant not only the massive destruction of productivity, the depopulation of the occupied regions, mass enslavement, and forced colonization, but also the founding of a new feudal system. This feudal system was the continuation, in a subsequent phase of development, of the Osmanli military feudalism that had been created in Asia Minor during the first half of the fourteenth century. In essence, this system did not modify the feudal ties that existed in the Balkan states at the time when they were conquered by the Turks, but compared with them, the system was at an inferior, barbarous level, having as its foundation brutal coercion and terror, since the Muslims had the privilege of resorting with impunity to violence against the Christian population and of subjecting it to unlimited exploitation. (Angelov p 506)

http://www.australianislamistmonitor.org/images/stories/turks3.jpg
Turkish invasion of Christian lands was a disaster for Balkan peoples

Even a brief look at the date list, part H in the slavery series, shows the violence and oppression by the Muslims!

Byzantine historian Georgius Pachymeres, a contemporary of the events in the 1262-82 invasion north of the meander, (Paphlagonia, Caria in Asia Minor) described the ruination of towns and monasteries, the fleeing population and the conversion of land into a ‘Scythian desert. ’ He notes indiscriminate massacres, large scale enslavement, the merciless crushing of any resistance and the death of the entire male population where people refused to surrender. (Angelov p465, 466)

Other contemporary writers note the same acts of sadism and destruction throughout the conquest by the Turks and indeed on conquered populations until the 20th century.

From the beginning of their conquests (ie Asia Minor), the emir’s family and clan/military leaders became the owners of vast tracts of land, slaves, towns and villages. The system of military fiefs (timaris) was developed. Some soldiers received land but had to remain in the military. Most however went to the rulers and military leaders.- one fifth went to the state/sultan just as Mohammad took a fifth for himself from the plunder and enslavement carried out by his crew. (The Koran demanded that Mohammad got a fifth even if he wasn’t actually in the raid –how convenient!!)

The incessant military campaigns fulfilled the desires of all to spread Islam and gain their just rewards of slaves and land. In depopulated areas, ‘slaves’ replaced local inhabitants in all areas of work/labour, and served in households and harems. Selling slaves enabled the seller to purchase precious objects from elsewhere.

http://www.australianislamistmonitor.org/images/stories/pachymeris.jpg
Georgios Pachymeris 1242-c. 1310 one of the most important of the later Byzantine writers

Slaves were a source of ‘wealth’ for soldiers encouraging further conquest. The 14th century Ottoman state had only a rudimentary economy with underdeveloped commerce and trades and money was rare. (Angelov p 485-487). Enslavement served to weaken nations as populations were depleted and moved. Mass enslavements are documented.

The remaining populations were severely exploited peasants who laboured for others and were subjected to excessive taxes and fines. Similarly artisans were needed so, despite the routine massacres and deportations, the military was used to stop people fleeing and force them to remain.(Angelov p 470-471). The feudal class of Turks learnt they needed to keep the peasants to benefit from their surplus value and become wealthy. Muslim Turks ruled but were a minority population particularly in the Balkans where most of the population remained Christian. Allowing people to remain Christian was not ‘kindness’or ‘tolerance’, it was a practical and economic necessity as the non-Muslim population could be charged higher taxes ( the humiliating jizya or poll tax is more than the zakat –Durie p 169-178), extra fines and charges etc plus, any sign of rebellion could be met with death for the community or enslavement or forced mass movement or taking more children. Hence ordinary people lived in fear and were reduced to a servile, destitute state without the means to resist under the repressive dhimmi laws while wealth went to their Muslim overlords and their agents.

http://i47.tinypic.com/23hqhbm.jpg
Battle of Kosovo 1389 - The battle of Kosovo was an important victory for the Ottomans. While losses were substantial, with both armies being virtually destroyed. on both sides and both sides lost their leaders, the Ottomans were able to easily field another army of equal or greater size, whereas Serbia could not.

Only during the brief period (1402-1413) of problems in the Turkish state did the Ottomans slow their enslavement but following 1413, taking slaves returned with a vengeance. (Angelov p 490). Eg 7,000 from Thessalonika in 1430 (Bulgaru p 567) In 1438, 60,000 Serbs were enslaved and taken to Anatolia (Sookhdeo p 268). Sources suggest that in the few years between 1436-1442, some 400,000 people were seized in the Balkans. Many of the captives died in forced marches towards Anatolia (Turkey) (Sookhdeo p 268). Contemporary chronicles note that the Ottomans reduced masses of the inhabitants of Greece, Romania, and the Balkans to slavery eg from Moree (1460)-70,000 and Transylvania (1438) - 60,000-70,000 and 300,000-600,000 from Hungary and 10,000 from Mytilene/Mitilini on Lesbos island (1462) (Bulgaru p 567) and so it continued.

The vicious destruction of Constantinople in 1453 shows the religious zeal of the Muslims, their hatred of Christians, massacres, destruction and pillage and of course, the enslavement of 50,000-60,000 people!

Slave trading centres existed in many areas eg the Turkish state (Adrianople/Edirne) and Balkan Peninsula, Crete, Cyprus, Catalogna, Syria and Italy eg Ancona. Slaves were shackled, marched and any lagging behind were killed (Bulgaru p 568)

Jobs for slaves:

Lovely boys and girls plus gold and silver objects were shared around as gifts between the sultan and high-ranking civil and military dignitaries (Angelov p 489) Handsome and strong boy slaves were also sent to the barracks to become ‘janissaries.’

Describing the palace of Ottoman ruler Bayezid (1389-1402) in Brousse, historian Dorcas notes:

http://www.australianislamistmonitor.org/images/stories/mehmedii.jpg
The capture and sacking of Constantinople by Turkish troops under Mohammed II, 29th May 1453. The Turkish victory marked the end of the Byzantine Empire.

Remember, Mohammad took the pretty girls for himself and to share out to friends (see parts A, B in this series)

The writings of the procurator of the court of the sultans (1433-1458) describes the ‘favourite youths,’ Christians and others numbering 400, kept in special conditions and guarded and trained to become the special loyal dignitaries, intimate with the sultan. And of course the harems of young girls..(Angelov p 494). Hence a tiny number of enslaved boys had the chance to become rich by attacking and plundering their own people or others or acting as administrators, providing they remained in the sultan’s intimate circle.

Most slaves laboured-farm work, building, rebuilding, digging, or they entertained or cleaned or served or provided a sexual service –they did everything while their Muslim rulers totally exploited them.

An enormous number of slaves flowed from the Crimea, the Balkans, and the steppes of West/central Asia into Islamic markets (Khan p 321, Bostom p 93). White males were often castrated, females bred Muslims.

http://www.australianislammonitor.org//images/stories/istanbulslavemarket.jpg
The Aurub Bazaar, or Slave Market, Constantinople

Endless violence:

A letter from Pope Eugene IV dated 1442 notes the Turkish conquest of Thrace, Macedonia, Illyria, Albania, Bulgaria, Slavonia and the taking of slaves who were bound in chains, and killed along the way if they could nolonger walk (Angelov p 491)

In response to Ottoman attacks on Byzantium, Emperor Manuel II (1391-1425) noted his conversation with a Persian Muslim scholar (dialogue 7, 26 dialogues with a Persian), stating:

"Show me just what Mohammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached ...god is not pleased by blood- and not acting reasonably is contrary to god’s nature. Faith is born of the soul, not of the body. Whoever would lead someone to faith needs the ability to speak well and to reason properly, without violence and threats...to convince a reasonable soul, one does not need a strong arm, or weapons of any kind, or any means of threatening a person with death..."(Sookhdeo p 256)

In true Islamic fashion, beheadings were also popular with the Muslim Turks:

In 1396, the Ottoman sultan Bayezid I defeated a force of largely French Christian knights at Nicopolis (Bulgaria) and ordered that the 3000 who surrendered be decapitated:

“The next morning they were paraded before him, naked and in groups of 3 or 4. The mass beheadings began early in the morning and continued through the day”.(Sookhdeo p 158)

http://www.australianislamistmonitor.org/images/stories/christianmassacre.jpg
Massacre of the Christian prisoners taken an the Battle of Nicopol, in the presence of the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I. Jean Froissart, Chronicles fol. 255v, Flandres, Bruges 15th Century

In 1499 Sultan Bayezid II after his conquer of Methone (Greece) ordered :

‘the execution of all those who were 10 years or older; and so it happened. They gathered their heads and bodies, put them together, and built a big tower outside the city, which can still be seen nowadays” (Chronicle cited in Bostom p 619)

No, he wasn’t just copying his earlier namesake, both were following the Koran. The Koran sanctions the beheading/throat slitting of infidels eg suras 47.4 (smite their necks) and 8.12 (smite over their necks)

And who can forget that great tale of Mohammad beheading all the males with pubic hair (700-900) (nd one woman) from the last Jewish tribe in Medina after they surrendered to him for the crime of remaining neutral in a battle; plus the usual enslavement of women and children, taking of concubines and property (Ishaq p 464-466).

Armenians were beheaded in the 1894-96 massacres (Bostom p 671).
Religiously sanctified beheading and throat slitting is big in Islam even today. Beheading occurs in the Islamic world now eg Saudi Arabia – where some 121 were beheaded in 2000, 75 in 2001, 50 in 2003 etc (Sookhdeo p 158); hostages have been beheaded and beheadings have also occurred in the west thanks to our Muslim immigrants.

Population transfers

Large-scale deportations and population transfers (surgun) accompanied the jihad campaigns of the Arabs, Seljuk and Ottoman Turks, and Safavides (Iran) (Bostom p 626). The practice removed recalcitrant groups, populated depopulated areas caused by Muslim attacks, and brought Muslims into areas to give support eg Turkmen from eastern Anatolia were moved and used as jihad warriors against Hungary and Austria and they were moved into Cyprus, Greece, and Serbia to help control Christian populations. Muslims were moved into Albania.

Armenia Christians, Orthodox Christians and Jews were forcibly settled in depopulated Constantinople-centre of Christian learning (taken 1453 –see date list for details) so the city could actually function and be fed. This is claimed as a sign of ‘Islamic tolerance’ and particularly kindness to Jews but don’t ask why Constantinople was depopulated in the first place and don’t enquire too deeply about the actual lives of dhimmitude led by the non-Muslims. We are told they were allowed to live with their own laws under the guidance of their patriarch.....there is no mention of the monumentally repressive dhimmitude laws that totally controlled them or the constant threat of death should they annoy a Muslim or the ban on open expression of their religion. As for the 'patriarchs', they were in effect agents of the Islamic rulers who kept the non-Muslim population under control, stopped rebellion or complaint and extracted the heavy taxes for their Muslim rulers. Hence people were detached from their family, country and history and subjected to total Islamic control and exploitation.

The long lines deporting Armenians to the arid deserts of Der el Zor resulted in rapes, infant drownings, slashing of bodies, live in burials, torture, starvation and finally death.

Unending Dhimmitude for the conquered people:

Initially in some areas, vassals were used but eventually direct Ottoman rule generally occurred. There were constant battles and uprisings (see date list part H). Conquered people lived under the repression of Islam’s dhimmitude law and this continued into the 19th (or later) century. Many activities, occupations and trades were forbidden to Christians (Bostom p 66). In Sarajevo in 1794, the Serbian Orthodox church warned people not to sing anywhere as the village was Turk! (Bostom p 68) Efforts by European powers to moderate the abuse of Christians and other non-Muslims, was met with stern resistance (eg 19th century). In Islam, non-Muslims cannot be equals with Muslims.

The Greek revolution of 1821 was the culmination of the resistance to Muslim Ottoman domination which was:

“characterised by economic spoliation, intellectual decay and cultural retrogression........restrictions of all kinds, unlawful taxation, forced labour, persecutions, violence, imprisonment, death, abductions of girls and boys and their confinement to Turkish harems, and various deeds of wantonness and lust.......they defied every sense of human decency...(Vacalopoulos in Bostom p 69-70)

Efforts by European powers to abrogate the Ottoman dhimmi system weren’t implemented in any meaningful way between 1839 and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire after WW1. It was noted that Muslim Turkey still regarded others as inferior and the fanaticism of the early days continued. The 1860’s reports by British consuls (pals with Turkey)in the Ottoman Empire, reveal the continuing persecution of Christians, massive discrimination and judicial ‘imbalance.’ The Tanzimat reforms (1839-1876) were false eg the repressive, inequitable ‘poll tax’ was simply replaced by a new tax at a higher rate for non-Muslims! (Encyclopaedia Britannica V 13, p 786 which also notes that ‘reforms’ were ‘signed’ at times when Turkey needed European support- see part H). Turkish dhimmi laws may have been revoked on paper at the end of the 19th century, but the religiously supported attitudes and practices remained. The reforms failed because of Islam:

“the intense Muslim feeling which could sometimes burst into an open fanaticism....the innate attitude of superiority..Islam was a way of life......it prescribed man’s relations to man....and was the basis for society, for law and for government. Christians were therefore inevitably considered second-class citizens in the light of religious revelation....summed up in ...KAFIR, which means unbeliever or infidel with emotional and quite uncomplimentary overtones....Familiar association with heathens and infidels is forbidden to the people of Islam......equality was not attained in the Tanzimat period (1839-1876) nor after the YoungTurk revolution of 1908.” (Roderick Davidson in Bostom p 73-74)

Any attempt to emancipate the dhimmi people or claim equality resulted in extreme violence with massacres across the Ottoman empire –Turkey, Balkans, middle-East, into Africa eg Bulgarian massacres 1876; Armenian massacres 1894-1896, 1909 and outright genocide during WWI where possibly 1.5 million perished. The Balkan wars of Independence (1912-13) and the defeat in WWI halted Ottoman aggression and dhimmitude for the conquered people (but it begins again today in Turkey).

http://www.australianislamistmonitor.org/images/stories/xios1822.jpg
Delacroix's painting of the massacre at Chios (1822) shows sick, dying Greek civilians about to be slaughtered by the Turks.

As far as Muslims are concerned, any non-Muslim who failed to act submissively had no protection for his life, his family, his property etc which all became fair game for Muslims. 19th century Ottoman Grand vizier Mustafa Resid opposed the reforms claiming the complete emancipation of the non-Muslim subjects, appropriately destined to be subjugated and ruled, was entirely contradictory to the 600 year tradition of the Ottoman Empire. He predicted a great massacre if equality was granted to non-Muslims! (quoted in Durie p 159).

In Bosnia (and the Balkans in general) in the 19th century extreme discrimination against Christians remained –the honour, property or lives of Christians weren’t safe and the law didn’t protect Christians (Sookhdeo p 268)

In 1804, the Ottoman Janissaries massacred Serbian leaders, the ‘Massacre of the Serbia Knights,’ triggering an uprising against Turkish rule.(Durie p 158)

In 1850 - the sultan’s army put down resistance. Serbs and Croats continued under repressive dhimma regulations which were part of state legislation and an integral part of local political and economic conditions (Durie p 185)

1876: Ottomans’ massacre the Bulgarians: Modern Bulgarian historians estimate 30,000 murdered, with 3,000 orphaned children, thousands of Bulgarians imprisoned or exiled and 60-80 villages destroyed and another 200 hundred plundered and 300,000 livestock (cattle, sheep, goats) and countless personal goods taken as ‘booty’ from a defenceless population long exploited during centuries of oppressive Ottoman rule. A 1986 analysis found that the Ottomans seemed aware of the possible uprising and sent a variety of Muslim fighters not only against the rebels but against ordinary, unarmed civilians. Reports (1876) note that girls and women were stripped, gang-raped and usually killed, people were burnt alive, children ‘spitted’ on bayonets, pregnant women ripped open and their unborn baby killed...... (Bostom p 664-666)(see detail with eyewitness reports in date list part H.)

More than 5,000 of the 7,000 inhabitants of the town of Batak, including women and children, were raped, slaughtered, beheaded or burned alive by Ottoman irregulars who left piles of dead bodies around the town square and church in 1876, giving start of the April Uprising. American journalist and war correspondent working for the New York Herald and the London Daily News, Januarius McGahan, who first described the Turkish atrocities in Bulgaria, gives eye-witness account of the aftermath some two months following the events. His complete work can be read here. Amazingly, Turkish history, as taught in schools today, fails to mention a word on the 500 years of genocide and systematic rape and torture of the Bulgarian people and my Turkish peers are quite ignorant of the facts and the history their forefathers wrote in innocent blood.

“the obligation to kill infidels, warns against befriending the foes of Islam, and demands Muslims arise to the holy war nomatter what it costs...war in secret –persecute and exterminate all unbelievers from the face of the earth; war by word of mouth –write and speak if more strident methods aren’t available; physical war...fighters and money to fight..and those who assist or die in battle are promised special rewards in heaven....He notes the prophet’s (Mohammad) demands for assassinations and says every Muslim can use deadly weapons and cites instances today...and where unbelievers outnumber Muslims, fight the war DECEITFULLY as Mohammad did and suggests this for the Caucasus, Turkistan, India, Java...secret raids on others...outright war. Muslims are told to arm and prepare and unite...and use politics ...and again, fight the unbelievers..”

He claims his war isn’t against all unbelievers ie those who don’t fight (just rollover into dhimmitude or convert) or rule Muslims--but since Islam claims the world...(Bostom p 221-225)

For the Armenians the genocide of 1915 was the culmination of endless massacres and attempts at destruction as Muslim Turks took over their land and worked to completely obliterate them. Massacres, marches, enslavement, rape, torture, pillage and burning preceded this horrendous death march that Turks (and weak western leaders) refuse to acknowledge even today.

Armenia was initially an area in West Asia, bordered by the Caucasus Mountains, the Black Sea, ‘Iran’, but now it is part of the SW SovietUnion, East Turkey, and NW Iran.
In the 7th century Arab incursions into Armenia started about 640 with Dvin sacked, 35,000 enslaved. And raids continued (see part F for some accounts). In the 11th century the Turks took over- Vaspourakan was ravaged, and Ardzen , a wealthy city of 800 churches was plundered and torched with 150,000 enslaved. The Seljuk Turks then the Ottoman/Osmanli Turks carried out endless attacks.

Tragically also Shia Muslims from ‘Persia’ slaughtered, enslaved, pillaged, burnt and forced Armenians into long deadly marches even into the 17th century.

In 1894 -1896 Muslims attacked Armenian villages and massacred inhabitants (the Hamidian massacres). Massacres first occurred in Sasun, Istanbul, Trebiznd, Erurum, Urfa. The Armenians, already paying tribute to the Kurds, refused to pay further tribute to the Turkish authorities in Sasun. Turkish troops, Kurds and the Muslim population slaughtered the Sasun Armenians, raped the females, dashed children to death and burnt down villages. The Turkish commander Zeki Pasha was rewarded by the sultan (Bostom p 667).

Britain, France and Russia were upset and demanded reforms...the sultan pretended to accept watered-down reforms with many paper promises – he needed help to stave off Russian interference re the Orthodox Christian ‘dhimmi’ populations of Greeks, Serbs, and Armenians and hoped for western support.

A series of organised massacres (beginning and ending with a bugle call) occurred throughout eastern Turkey in the Armenian areas with 50,000-100,000 killed and shops etc destroyed.(Bostom p 667- 669). Preaching from mosques encouraged the attackers and promised them the rewards of Armenian property as allah decreed.

In Urfa, koranic verses were recited before people had their throats slit and women and children were burnt alive (8 thousand died) (Bostom p 669-670).

Massacres also occurred at Ayintab, Birecik, and Severek in Aleppo Province: (Aleppo city today is in Syria just S of Turkish border). The report of the British consul notes re Ayintab

“the butchers and tanners, with sleeves tucked up to the shoulders, armed with clubs and cleaves, cut down the Christians , with cries of ‘allahu akbar.’.....then when mid-day came they knelt down and said their prayers, and then jumped up and resumed their dreadful work......they fired the houses with petroleum.”..(Bostom p 670)

Soldiers and Muslims participated in the massacres at Birecik and Severek where the sexton and pastor were beheaded. (Bostom p 671)

In 1909, Armenians were massacred in Alana (S. Turkey) killing 15,000-30,000. Assyrians and Greeks were also attacked. Please read the article "Slaughter of Christians in Asia Minor from the NYTimes 22/8/09 reproduced on this site 25/12/09 for the report of a witness to the aftermath -the sadism described by those who suffered it is trully distressing as is the utter destruction of villages.

1915-17: Armenian genocide: During WWI the ‘young Turks’ aimed to deport all Armenians from Anatolia to Mesopotamia—massacres, rape, kidnapping and looting accompanied the forced expulsion or DEATH MARCH along with starvation, illness, and even suicide. Eyewitness accounts verify the genocide.

The plight of the Armenians under centuries of vicious Islamic persecution is so utterly tragic. The fact that any Armenian Christians survive is a miracle.

The Balkan wars occurred in 1912-13 with the Ottomans losing Crete and Balkan states....

Due to the alliance of western Europeans with the Ottomans against Russian and Austrian designs, we have been subjected to propaganda that Jews and Christians were fine under Islamic rule eg writings by Bernard Lewis—which whitewashed the real, deeply horrifying truth (Durie p 207) so clearly revealed in writings from contemporaries to the events.

Repressed history

Failure to mention the historic truth of Islam’s bloody and repressive jihad and subjugation of others plays out in politics today. Bosnia president Alija Izetbegovic who claims Islamic tolerance, states in his Islamic declaration of 1970, that there cannot be peace or coexistence between the Islamic faith and non-Islamic social and political institutions...and that the Islamic movement must take power...destroy the existing non-Islamic power and build a new Islamic one!! (Ye’or Islam and Dhimmitude p 202) Yet the lie of Islamic tolerance lives on!

“to anyone with some knowledge of the centuries long history of Serbian resistance to Ottoman domination, it was obvious that the return of any form of Islamic power in Bosnia-Herzegovnia would be rejected by Orthodox Christian Serbs. The five centuries of ‘harmonious and peaceful co-existence’ under Islamic rule, cited by Bosnian president Alija Izetbegovic, belong to the theological dogma of the perfection of the sharia and the dhimma.
For the Orthodox Serbs, however, this same period is considered one of massacre, pillage, slavery, deportation, and exile of the Christian population. In their eyes it was a regime which found its justification in the usurpation of their land and denial of their rights; hence it represented the EXACT OPPOSITE of a peaceful, multicultural coexistence based on a system of social and political justice.............during WWII Axis forces invaded Yugoslavia and sponsored the creation of a Nazi Croat state (Ustashi) with which many Bosnian Muslims cooperated.....they formed military corps including the 13th (Hanjar) Waffen SS Division, some of which were trained in FRANCE. Early in the war, these Muslim slavs actively participated in the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Orthodox Serbs, Jews and gypsies. The Muslims tried to pass blame to the Catholic Croats. Kosovo and Bosnia –Herzegovina are the Orthodox Serbian homeland. To Ye’or the war between Bosnian Muslims and Orthodox Serbs results from repressed history....with the Canadian UN commander noting the hatred between the two groups. the death of 20.000 as genocide but denies the MILLIONS dead civilians that the turks have been butchering for centuries.

-The Muslim mortality for western Anatolia alone was 1.246.068 between 1912 and 1922, and of this figure, 640.000 civilians died as a result of the Greco-Turkish War.

Hey miserable Greek losers club member. Which millions are you talking about?

The population of Athens was less than 6000 in 1830s.
What you call Pontus Empire in 12th century was just a fortified state within a 30km2 region with less than a population of 4500 people.
How do you still exist today if you were butchered for centuries? It would take a week to exterminate your tiny population.
Thats what happens when you learn history from school books written by mad Orthodox priests Lol.

One of the tendencies of the Ottoman state was to lash out against the Christians under its rule. The tragedy of Christian communities under Turkish rule, as then-British Prime Minister William Gladstone saw it, was not “a question of Mohammedanism simply, but of Mohammedanism compounded with the peculiar character of a race.” He wrote of the Turks:

“They were, upon the whole, from the black day when they first entered Europe, the one great anti-human specimen of humanity. Wherever they went a broad line of blood marked the track behind them, and, as far as their dominion reached, civilization disappeared from view. They represented everywhere government by force as opposed to government by law. — Yet a government by force can not be maintained without the aid of an intellectual element. — Hence there grew up, what has been rare in the history of the world, a kind of tolerance in the midst of cruelty, tyranny and rapine. Much of Christian life was contemptuously left alone and a race of Greeks was attracted to Constantinople which has all along made up, in some degree, the deficiencies of Turkish Islam in the element of mind.”

“The attitude of the Moslems toward the Christians and the Jews is that of a master towards slaves,” reported the British Vice Consul in Mosul (an Ottoman city in what is now Northern Iraq) a little later in 1909, “whom he treats with a certain lordly tolerance so long as they keep their place. Any sign of pretension to equality is promptly repressed.” This, of course, is the old story of dhimmitude or the second-class citizenship of non-Moslems under Moslem rule.

The Ottomans lurched from outrage to outrage. Regular slaughters of Armenians in Bayazid (1877), Alashgurd (1879), Sassun (1894), Constantinople (1896), Adana (1909) and Armenia itself (1895-96) claimed a total of two hundred thousand lives, but they were only rehearsals for the genocide of 1915. The slaughter of Christians in Alexandria in 1881 was only a rehearsal for the artificial famine induced by the Turks in 1915-16 that killed over a hundred thousand Maronite Christians in Lebanon and Syria. So imminent and ever-present was the peril, and so fresh the memory of these events in the minds of the non-Moslems, that illiterate Christian mothers dated events as so many years before or after “such and such a massacre.” Across the Middle East, the bloodshed of 1915-1922 finally destroyed ancient Christian communities and cultures that had survived since Roman times—groups like the Jacobites (Syrian Orthodox), Nestorians (Iraqi Orthodox), and Chaldaeans (Iraqi Catholic).

Justin A. McCarthy (born October 19, 1945) is an American demographer, professor of history at the University of Louisville, in Louisville, Kentucky. He holds an honorary doctorate from Boğaziçi University, Turkey, and is a board member of the Institute of Turkish Studies.[1][2] His area of expertise is the history of the late Ottoman Empire.[3][4]
McCarthy has attracted most attention for his revisionist views on the Armenian Genocide, occurring during the waning years of the Ottoman Empire. Most genocide scholars label these massacres as genocide, but McCarthy views them as part of a civil war, triggered by World War I, in which equally large numbers of Armenians and non-Armenians died. Because his work denies the genocidal nature of the Armenian Genocide, he has often faced harsh criticism by other scholars who have characterized his views as genocide denial.[5][6][7][8] He has been described as a scholar on the Turkish side of the debate

You expect us to believe the genocide denier and the only scholar on the turkish side of the debate?

Hey miserable Greek losers club member copy paste Wikipedia troll, trying to slander respected historians is the main excuse of average imbeciles like you when they cant answer with knowledge.

*** Historians that reject "Armenian Genocide" allegations are Andrew Mango, Gilles Veinstein, Guenter Lewy, Stanford Shaw, Justin McCarthy, Eberhard Jackel, Levon Panos Dabagyan, Bernard Lewis. The typical Armenian policy is slandering these respected and credible historians by calling them "paid workers of Turkish goverment", trying to prevent their books from getting published, organizing public lynching campaigns by calling them "denialists", trying to make people boycotting their lectures and so on.

*** Here is one example from the behind the scenes intimidation practices of the academic Armenians, following the usual Dashnak strategy to suppress freedom of speech. Marjorie Housepian, whose propagandistc "Smyrna" book Hovannisian will point to as a valid source in his essay, contacted the Cambridge University Press and demanded that Shaw's "History of the Ottoman Empire" book to be withdrawn because her views on the subject were not accepted. Hovannisian led an entire Armenian delegation to the press and made very ugly threats, forcing the then editor of the book, Walter Lippincott, to take special security precautions. Hovannisian has been at the discrediting game for a long time, and he surely has not stopped with Shaw. In early 2006, he appeared at the University of Utah, in order to speak ill of the work of another amazing scholar, Professor Guenter Lewy.

Turkey's EU affairs minister has challenged France's controversial genocide-denial bill in Switzerland, saying such efforts have no chance of survival.

Turkish EU Affairs Minister Egemen Bağış told reporters in Zurich on Sunday that a bill which was recently been approved by the French Senate and which makes it a crime to deny the mass killings of Armenians in 1915 in Anatolia constitute a genocide is null and void for Turkey, adding that “we believe there are more sane people in France than insane ones.”

Here is your answer. The resolution of the congress of the country you are living in right now. If you dont believe to Turks, here is a non-Turkish document, prepared by non-Turks.

http://i.imgur.com/NazMlBG.jpg

"According to the US State Department, there were 817.873 Armenian refugees alive in 1922. The figures were based upon information furnished by the British Embassy, Constantinople, and by the agents of the Near East Relief Society, in 1921. The total given does not include able-bodied Armenians, who are retained by the Kemalists, nor the women and children, approximately 95.000, according to the League of Nations, have been forced to embrace Islam. According to the same source there were 281.000 Armenians left in Anatolia in 1921, 150.000 In Constantinople (Istanbul) and 131.000 in Asia Minor."

*** Western powers to Armenians, "if you fight with us against the Turks and if the war ends successfully for us, we promise to give you a national home, liberty and independence. 200,000 Armenian volunteers sacrificed their lives for the cause of Western powers". Armistice was signed and peace concluded and the promises given to the Armenians were forgotten.

(Fridthjof Nansen, League of Nations, 16th Plenary Meeting, Saturday, September 21th, 1929)

The source just says the amount of refugees and the population remaining in the Ottoman Empire. It doesn't give any numbers of the pre-war population nor the amount killed.

If you read carefully, you can see that the title says "the Armenian population in the world" in 1922. It doesnt have to do anything with the pre-war population since Armenians claim "1.5 million of them" were slaughtered. The document says 817.873 of them are alive.
