I am pretty sure I have amber eyes many people tell me that my eyes are not plain brown. Is this eye considered amber or just plain brown( I am colorblind so I have a difficult time with this). Thanks and please post pic of differences of Amber and Plain Brown. Amber has more Yellowish/Gold color.

The true amber color on humans is rare and exists mostly among people around the Baltic Sea like the amber itself. The eye in the picture is a bit too brown to be classic amber color. The best examples I have seen in nature of Amber eyes is among wolves, the majority of wolves have beatiful yellow amber eyes. Wolves eyes are mesmerizing. The other specie that has them is black panthers.

Interesting is there two types of Amber I have seen many places where light brown eyes are considered Amber.

Yeah I have seen that too, to me light brown eyes are just that light brown. Wolves have truly amber eyes, among humans it's very, very rare but it does exist, I've seen a couple of people who have them. They are very, very light brown, or yellow.

Not sure this is not a photoshop job, ususally they are not orangy but more of the yellow tint, if you look at the wolf thread you will get an idea what they look like.

My eyes are a similar colour to yours, I hypothesize that it is the yellowing of the iris that causes green eyes plus the higher melanin of brown eyes that causes this colour.

Are your parents' eyes brown and green?

My parents have brown eyes my mom's a bit lighter;however, my sister has the same color eye as mine just a little lighter. My Grandfather had Green Eyes, and of course I have cousins with blue, green, hazel and brown light eyes.

Amber eyes? I have two friends with them. (Well, one is my friend, the other one is more like an acquaintance.)

1.

And 2, this is from a friend's fb page, that a friend of his took a close up of his eye:

Amber eyes are very uncommon, but damn, they are beautiful! I'd say your eyes are light brown though.

My eyes sometimes look amber, but they are usually too grey/green on the outer iris to be considered amber, it takes a very special warm light for them to look a reddish-amber colour:

I say your eyes are light brown with an Amber tinge, but not Amber as they tend to be lighter and more yellow.

My eyes are not amber they are hazel (green on outside and brown around pupil) but sometimes in certain lighting conditions they can look almost amber or golden like.

They are actually the purest form of pale yellow I've seen on anyone. :P

Trust me I am awful with telling color the other day I thought something was red and it was brown. I happen to be one of the 10% of the population that is Red Green colorblind. However, that means anything with Green or Red will be distorted to me.

The way there's a brown-green mix known as hazel, I think there's also a brown-amber mix because like you (except a lighter color) my eyes are brown and yellowish and not at all green. So not amber, not totally brown, and not hazel, somewhere in between.

Make sense, a Brown-Amber color category for my particular eye color. I will say having yellowish cat eyes in the sunlight really sometimes freaks people out.

I think hazel are probably lighter than both your colour and pure amber eyes.

I think you are mostly correct; however, there are some light brown eyes that can be lighter than green eyes or even sometimes blue eyes is rare circumstances. However, this is not common.

But what do I know I am color blind so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

That is not really possible. Green and blue colours are always lighter than brown. The brown may look more vibrant or stand out more than say a dark green or blue but they are not lighter still.

Just brown. Any brown looks kinda amber if sun shines on it.

Yeah, I admit that I sometimes stay facing the sun while talking to people.
Even though it hurts my eyes, I know how different they look in sunlight; it's nice to not have such typical brown eyes once in awhile.

I agree, although I've never seen a person with true amber eyes. Honestly, I wouldn't want to have amber eyes. I think it's a little too strange. Hazel eyes are probably the best to have because as a girl, I can wear make up to bring out either the brown or the green when I choose.

Crap did I reply wrong? Am I supposed to quote the person first?...
And has anyone ever seen violet eyes? I've read those are rare as well (if they even exist).

Hmm... I can kind of see it in her left eye. I'm sure it's hard to capture and see because of lights and reflections...? Like I've heard that blue eyes aren't actually blue just reflections of everything. Not sure of the best way to describe that. But is it like there's some pigment there but it's difficult to see because of the blue? I have no idea lol

I agree, even the brownish yellowish in my eyes look a bit strange.

I have amber eye colour. Here are a couple of pictures. The colour never appears dark shade of brown in any light. It's more of a very light brown/orange/yellow mixture pigment with a grey/green outer ring. My grandfather, my mother and I all have the same eyes. The rest of my close relatives are blue eyed. My eyes are very sensitive to light and I am honestly a night person naturally. In sunshine they do appear yellow.
