Did they retain their ethnic identities?
Most of them don't live there anymore due to ethnic cleansing in the Yugoslav Wars. Don't know much about them today.

Morlachs (Moro-Vlachs) were old inhabitants of Croatia. Their name means black vlachs and they got it due to their clothes. They originated from Roman colonists and native inhabitants like Illyrians and Thracians. Vlachs is a generic name for all romance speaking people.

So are they the modern Illyrians?

Are they genetically related to Albanians? (Who claim to be Illyrians)
