I've once eaten some dessert cake called Spotted Dick ;)

Spotted Dick is nice. It is supposed to be very heavy and rich, and made with suet or cow fat, but it can be made with butter or vegetable suet.

It is an English pudding, and it is supposed that the 'dick' is a contraction that comes from "puddingk", which how it might be pronounced in some dialects.

There is something about English winter puddings, very rich, very heavy and with lots of dried fruit.

(I have a Christmas pudding in my cupboard, and I am going to eat it now!)
