China's wild west,sheep on the highways

Herdsmen in Yili Valley, western Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, are given the privilege of driving their livestock to spring pasture on one section of highway, about 18.6 miles long, that coincides with the traditional pass.Local traffic police puts warning signs for car drivers to cut speed. One lane is even spared for the special "hikers". The 18.6-mile-long section is open to sheeps and cattles from 8:00 to 19:00 every day.
