The map creates false impression of unity between Central area and Western parts. In fact West speaking different dialect which includes significant number of borrowings from Polish language.

Also how can Kiev be a predominantly Ukrainian speaking when 60% of its people speak Russian and some 20-30% speak Surzhik (Russian-Ukrainian mix).

Yes. One-third of the ethnic Ukrainians prefer the Russian language.
