The Battle of Blood River
It Was Boer versus Zulu in a Life & Death Struggle For the Survival of the ‘White Africans’
By Deirdre Fields — MP3 (http://trp.fileburst.com/HelloAfrica_2006.12.16_dayofthevowbb.mp3)
The 16th of December 2008 marked the 170th anniversary of the Battle of Blood River, an event that lies at the heart of Afrikaner nationalism. It is a story of courage, determination, sacrifice, suffering and of undaunted faith in God. It even has mystical aspects. But it is a battle that could have spelled the fate of the Boer nation—perhaps even should have been their end—but miraculously was not. It enabled an entire saga of the whites of South Africa to unfold. Here, then, is the remarkable saga of the Battle of Blood River. See website

His forefathers were there,he should look it up.
The Boers used the barrel to drive the Zulus down the hill into the river.:D

A barrel or cask is a hollow conical container, traditionally made of vertical wooden staves and bound by wooden or metal hoops. Traditionally, the barrel was a standard size of measure referring to a set capacity or weight of a given commodity. For example, a beer barrel was originally a 36 gallon capacity while an ale barrel was a 32 gallon capacity and a zulu barrel was a 7 loin skinned zullu capacity. Other cask sizes include, but are not limited to, pins, rundlets, tierces, pipes, kaffir butts, and tuns.
