Recently I've become interested in my ancestral background and want to find out where they could be coming from, so I've decided in taking a DNA test but not sure which company is the most reliable and up to date with the haplotree. Any company's who can produce accurate and reliable results?

23andme is the best but one say they might use your dna or make a clone army

23andme is pretty accurate and cheap. Although being in the UK you have to pay ~ £65 extra for shipping.

The best test for autosomal ancestry is 23andme, and then you download raw data send it to McDonald, he will decode your genome and gives you results and also you can join GedMatch and play with the various side projects giving a whole clear picture.

If you want to test your Y-lineage it's best to go with FamilytreeDNA or the National Geno project, but for autosomal it's 23andme.

Thank you!! I was gonna ask about sending the raw data for someone to decode it but you've answered everything I want to know. :D

Yeah a household of clone domestic servants.

You should do 23andme and then upload the results on Gedmatch (which is free).

Yh thats a bit pricey but i can manage to scavenge for that extra 65 pounds, but i was wondering if that 65 pounds covers both shipping to here and back to us?

Yes it covers both. Once you're ready to send your sample back you phone DHL to book an appointment for pick-up. 23andme will notify you when they receive it at the lab. It passes through a few states, but DHL offers a tracking system thankfully!

Which FamilyTreeDna option should I choose? Especially for info on my YDNA haplogroup?

Does anyone know how long does it take for dr McDonald to reply? I've sent him my data more than 2 weeks ago and still no answer from them.

I have tested with three companies, the first was

Warrior Roots (garbage, gave me 23 STRs)
23andme (great company, quick results, wish the medical issue could get sorted out for new testers)
FTDNA (for STR's and some deep clade testing of individual SNPs like Z8 and Z1)

If i could recommend just one i would say 23andme!!
FTDNA for y-chromosome!!
