They are not very homogeneous, but east alpinid+pontid seems to be the main type. Some of them do show some asiatic alpine influence.

Though I'm not completely excluding the possibility that he might be Bulgarian, I'd rather think he isn't. Sofia is a multiethnic city.

Roys, what do you think about the main types here? They are students therefore from all around Bulgaria. At 4:51 and 5:11 the interviewed are gypos.

Well such types pop up sometimes. I have seen some regular looking parents to have super light or super dark child. Genetics are interesting thing.

I have two super dark cousins whose parents look regular Bulgarians. My older niece is both exotic and dark (well she's 5 she might change) while my brother and his wife look relatively normal (though both being dark).
