But what's untypical about Heiskanen?

In some cases, yes, I certainly am. ;)

As for Heiskanen, well, I'm no expert and don't claim to be, but to me he's always seemed somewhat removed from what the, ahem, typical Finn would look like. Certainly closer to the mainstream of Finns than the other examples I posted, but still. And as he gets older that impression simply gets stronger, I couldn't help noticing it in the recent film Kolme viisasta miestä.

But I admit I threw him in in order to thicken the p(l)ot a little. :p

Well if the question is solely about ethnic Finns then Remu Aaltonen is certainly part Gypsy so I don´t know if he´s a good exemplar and I suppose even such claims have been made about Litmanen and Tuomola too, but I really really doubt it. Heiskanen just looks as generic as you can if you ask me...

Remu Aaltonen is certainly part Gypsy so I don´t know if he´s a good exemplar and I suppose even such claims have been made about Litmanen and Tuomola too, but I really really doubt it.

Litmanen is not Gypsy, but Saami. Tuomola is probably just tanned, nothing extraordinary there.

The one who is really somewhat extraordinary looking Finn is Röyhkä. Could as well be French if you ask me.

That's what I was about to ask. He looks typical Finn (accounting the fact not many Finns do not look Eastbaltid).

Karita Tykkä and Kari Heiskanen could easily pass as Norwegians.


Litmanen is not Gypsy, but Saami.

He'd stick out among the Saami in Norway and most likely in Sweden aswell.
