The Most Bizarre Cover of Anne Frank's Diary You'll Ever See

Years ago in South Korea, a publisher allowed a version of the Diary of Anne Frank to be released with quite the inappropriate cover

It's no secret that Anne Frank is somewhat of an icon in Asia.

Her story has spawned comic books and graphic novels in Japan, where recently several versions of the Diary were vandalized (http://www.shalomlife.com/news/21985/anne-frank-books-vandalized-in-tokyo/), and in South Korea, covers of the Diary have been released featuring illustrated depictions of her:

Through her diary, written during her days encountering Nazi persecution and discrimination, Anne Frank has something to teach us all, today hailed as a testament to the strength of the human spirit.

Earlier this week, the Diary of Rywka Lipszyc was published (http://www.shalomlife.com/news/22531/the-diary-of-rywka-lipszyc-published/), a fellow 14-year-girl who wrote about the struggles of living throughout the Holocaust, her memoirs only revealed to the public in 2008. Perhaps she, too, will become an icon in Japan, South Korea, and ultimately, the world.
But with fame, comes interpretation.

A twitter user by the handle Che_SYoung, hailing from South Korea, has brought our attention to a version of the Diary of Anne Frank published in her country which, for lack of a better word, is highly inappropriate. (see cover photo)

The cover, unlike the normal black-and-white photos of Anne Frank herself that usually accompany her famous diary, depicts a sultry-looking woman - she kind of resembles a thinner version of Adele - in denim and a pink blouse, staring seductively at you.

Frankly, it looks more like the cover of a soft-core x-rated film than anything remotely associated to Anne Frank.

The image of the cover has been apparently making its way around the web for the past few webs (google it), and seems to be authentic. Mind you, how any publisher would approve such a tasteless rendition to accompany a piece of text more associated with the Holocaust, one of the darkest periods in human history, than an encyclopedia of the Holocaust itself, is beyond me.
