Here is what is usually said of Oetzi's mtDNA:
Analysis of his mitochondrial DNA has shown that Ötzi belongs to the K1 subclade, but cannot be categorized into any of the three modern branches of that subclade (K1a, K1b or K1c). The new subclade has provisionally been named K1ö for Ötzi.[32] Multiplex assay study was able to confirm that the Iceman's mtDNA belongs to a new European mtDNA clade with a very limited distribution amongst modern data sets.[33]
To me, it always seemed the implication was that since his 'K' is limited in distribution and rare, it was therefore a uniquely geographic clade and therefore belonging to Europe or in other words a pre-Neolithic marker.
Oetzi is of course part Meso- and part Neolithic autosomally speaking:

So it doesn't seem completely out of the question that his 'K' clade could be pre-agricultural even though it would seem his Y-DNA is indeed of the Neolithic advance that would have come to Europe from the Near East via the Mediterranean:
A group of scientists have sequenced Ötzi's full genome and the report was published on 28 February 2012.[3][31] The Y-DNA of Ötzi belongs to a subclade of G defined by the SNPs M201, P287, P15, L223 and L91 (G-L91, ISOGG G2a2b, former "G2a4"). He was not typed for any of the subclades downstreaming from G-L91. G-L91 is now mostly found in South Corsica.
However, some have speculated that his 'K' is more in line with an agricultural wave of advance clade even though it seems to be a uniquely European type of 'K'.
So I was curious as to what the exact reasoning this would be regarding why his 'K' could be associated with the Neolithic agricultural wave of advance to Europe.
