In all fairness, how many Ukrainians know where to locate Colorado or South Dakota off the bat?

True, but Ukrainians aren't spending millions to meddle in and promote a coup in Colorado or South Dakota either.

"The farther their guesses were from Ukraine's actual location, the more they wanted the U.S. to intervene with military force"

Oh America.

Yes...no one said otherwise.

I never thought my statement would gather so much resentment. My point was not dependent on a political entity being a nation-state or a regional state. Was mostly in jest anyway.

Colorado is not far away from California and Denver, right?... Oh, wait, Denver is a city. And South Dakota is about Canadian border?
This is how I remember it :D

That's surprising because even in Alabama geography is a requirement for graduating high school... One of the tests is correctly labelling all European countries and capitals...

LOL, Ukraine is just west of Russia.

Also, with this trend of globalization, it is only going to become more relevant to compare states within the US to European countries. (Particularly member states within the EU) :p

Right, it's funny how this stereotype of 'muricans being geographically challenged persists. Okay, so a fair portion are pretty clueless...I admit and have seen....but I'd venture to say a fair portion are as geographically educated as many modern Europeans. I do live in a cosmopolitan northern city, though.

Mostly it's the 200 million swarty folk in US who have no clue on geography.

Swarthy? So most are not English-American, Ulster Scot, German, and all sorts of combinations constituting as White American?

Maybe a portion of those have been included in one or more racial category. Just trying to reckon stuff.

(Granted it's not a VAST majority who are "white")
