Yes! I don't have one and I wish I did, I think clothes look better sometimes on girls with thigh gaps.

However, I don't think this is something girls should strive for, it's an unhealthy goal because it's impossible to obtain for some body types. A healthy body is best.

I'm naturally like this, no matter what I do. I'm slim and have large hips, so thigh gap is what I get.My mother and sister are like me, so I guess is genetic. And I like it! But I like bigger thighs too. Personally, I believe one is born with a perfect combination of features, in my body type, thigh gap feels natural, in others it would feel ridiculous. So long live variability!

It's a natural body shape just like any other. You can't define an acceptable bracket and insist anyone outside of it is unnatural. You can say, 'unfortunately, this is not to my taste' and that's all. Unless the person/attribute is unhealthy, keep quiet.

Thanks, but I'm fine with it. Some people like it, others don't and that's fine. I'm 27, far away from those stupid teen years, when every girl is easy influenced by "body fashions" of some sort. And I never had any complains about my legs ;)

Basically, what I was trying to say is that not everyone that has a "thigh gap" is seriously underweight. Some people just have it, like some have blue eyes, or curly hair. It has to do with hip structure and, of course, with the fact of not having fat thighs.

Images like this are stupid. I know they serve a purpose of telling teens that there is no point in starving yourself to dead just to have a "thigh gap". But seriously, this image's purpose, here in this thread, was to somehow say that women either are sickly and anorexic and, therefore, have a thigh gap, ore are healthy and curvy, and therefore don't have a thigh gap:

46236

This girls on the left is underweight. I am not like that, though I know some girls that ARE, and are unable to change it. And the same way I believe it shows lack of sensibility to mock fat people, it shows the same to do so with thin people.

I could have done the same, and show cherry picked photos to prove the point that women with thigh gaps are sexy and healthy and the other are not. Something like this:

Thigh gap is hot:

46237

46238

46239

Non-thigh-gap is unhealthy and unattractive:

46240

46241

Or not as attractive:

46242

Seriously, I think it's about time adults realize beauty comes in all shapes. No real man would ever, ever, EVER, like or dislike a girl because of something so futile and nonsense as a "thigh gap".

My opinion has changed from my original post on this thread. I think that legs can be sexy, thigh gap or no thigh gap. The thigh gap phenomenon has given women even more to feel insecure about and I think it's unnecessary and ridiculous. I didn't even notice I don't have a thigh gap until it was brought to my attention through all of these tumblr and Instagram posts glorifying thigh gaps. Women should embrace the bodies they were born with, rather than have all of these stupid insecurities.

Ok my rant is over lol.

I'm referring to body shape more than weight. Weight can be changed through diet and exercise but I don't believe in going under the knife to get implants, lipo (a lot of women get lipo in between their thighs to create a gap), etc.

Having never really bothered about this, but yes why not. I'd do it. I am not of the opinion beauty is weight dependent, one way or the other. There are gorgeous fat ladies and gorgeous skinny ladies. Its a phucked up world with people focusing on thigh gaps, hair texture, dimples, stretch marks and all sorts of crazy shit. For all we know we just live once, so both sexes should get over it and hump carefree.

Just 2 cents from a humble guy who wouldn't notice if you walk weird or your tits are out of proportion.

First of all, this is just as unpleasant as calling fat or chubby women disgusting, and it's just as misogynistic. Please find better ways of expressing your opinion. Calling anorexic girls (or boys) disgusting will only further their condition.

Second, thigh gaps are not a preserve of anorexics. Many healthy people have them. And calling these people 'disgusting anorexics' is the only disgusting thing going on here.

Why must everyone be so uncivilised on this thread?

I fail to get the reference you're making here, but you don't know anorexia. You're being incredibly rude to women that are simply thin, or skinny. 'Lol she needs some meat on her bones' is a bloody rude thing to say. My uncle once said it about my brother's girlfriend. To be honest it smacked of jealousy more than anything, but apart from that, it was a needless and incredibly arrogant statement on a perfectly healthy and naturally slender young girl. People don't have to live up to your taste. If you like thick or chubby or obese or whatever people, that's excellent, and I wish you the best, but people who don't fall into your parameters don't need your advice, especially phrased as you phrased it.

For future reference, here is a famous anorexic model:

What you're doing is the same as me suggesting the two girls in the third picture NinjerPanda posted were 'obese and should lose weight, now' then defending myself against accusations I was wrong, rude, and sexist.

And the hostility toward women continues... Why not just let women be who they are instead of criticizing every excruciating minutiae? Preference is fine, but these insults are just asinine and malicious.
As you and Longbowman point-out… this maliciousness is one of the reasons that got me interested in this phenomenon. I noticed how naturally thin (not anorexic) girls & women are slandered by so many people. This occurs in much the same way as people slander over-weight girls. If you are "too thin" or "too chubby" then you receive bullying from the majority of people.

It's toward the end of the bell-curve. There is "too thin" (anorexia). There is "too fat" (obesity). And there are females who are thin or chubby, but still look good and in a natural way.

I've posted plenty of pictures in that thread. And, in any event, I'm not nitpicking over some minor detail. Several of the women in that picture look way too skinny. And I don't even mean from the standpoint of attractiveness. They look legitimately underweight.

It's a dizzying world for women to grow up in. Men are evaluated on traits like success, whether it's their money or jobs, strength, or the more noble traits like being a good father or husband, and integrity or intelligence or perseverance. If we were evaluated with the same rubric as men, it would much less confusing and I think it would create an atmosphere where women could focus on becoming better people. Sure, you sometimes see motivational posters of female athletes with words like "perseverance", but at the forefront, the loudest message is this malicious static: women, young girls, have to grow up hearing that being fat is disgusting, being skinny is disgusting, that women are inherently less intelligent, then they hear complaints that women are bimbos and, "why can't I find a smart women?" Sluts are disgusting, prudes are even worse, ugly is ugly, but beautiful women can just barter their beauty and neglect their mind--because it wouldn't make a difference would it, since "women are stupid" and thigh gap is easier to get if you just starve yourself (but not too much, since skinny girls are "disgusting"). You can see why there is anger in the female population.

Rant over.

Agreed again. I actually have a pretty broad spectrum of body types I find attractive; everything from slim to thick/chubby.

That said; stating that you don't find a certain body type attractive isn't the same as attacking women. Just like it's not attacking men if a woman says, "I'm not attracted to guys built like Manuel Uribe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manuel_Uribe) because they're way too fucking overweight."

It has always been that way. Women in the 20's were considered attractive if they had small breasts and were slender. 40-50's where the hour glass years. The 60's twiggy became popular and most women wanted to be thin. If there is so much emphasis out there on how we should look then why not simply ignore it? The truth is we do care what others thinks of us. Well at least most women do. That is why we wear high heels,do our hair and put makeup.

The reality is is that the world judges you on how you look. It isn't sexist nor what not, it is simply the truth. At my last job the woman who interviewed an obese woman for the job commented to other women how fat and disgusting the lady seemed. Intelligence can only get you so far.

Not to mention the fact that there's a big difference between commenting on the appearance of total strangers and starting threads for the specific purpose of insulting forum members. I know Longbowman is smart enough to tell the difference between "I think that random chick in that random picture is fugly." and "Hey, [insert Apricity member here]. Your face looks like a box of smashed assholes."

I've never insulted a member here because of his or her looks, nor would I. But that doesn't mean I won't express my preference for a certain body type or hair color or whatever. I'm tall, have fair skin that burns instead of tans, have hazel eyes and brown hair that's turning gray. I'm height/weight proportionate. Not scrawny, but not a ripped gym-rat, either. I know that I'm not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it would be silly for me to get butt-hurt if some female member said she wasn't attracted men who are tall, fair-skinned or who have graying hair, for example. Some women like scrawny emo dudes. That sure isn't me. Some women like guys who look like Magnus Ver Magnusson. That isn't me, either.

I don't think I have some sort of god-given right to be found attractive by every woman on earth. Some women find me attractive and some don't. Oddly enough, this has little or no impact on my life. I'm still happily married and getting laid on a regular basis.

I agree that there's always been some pressure on women, but I think it's fairly obvious to say that it's much more these days what with media, the insane amount of magazines, the internet. I think it would be hard to ignore for a young girl. In the 20's you had what, Vogue? But that was about it. And I think people have become nastier about those that deviate from the nanoscale norm. It's become much more narrow, imo.

What? It was obviously an alliance of convenience. Proof: he broke it.

To have a thigh gap, a woman needs to either have a splayed pelvis or have a low BMI. I really don't get what the fixation is on this whole thigh gap thing. It's just giving women one more thing to hate about themselves.

Sure it does, some here are claiming that a girl cannot have a nice ass and a thigh gap together. But I provided a photo that demonstrates females can.

So some women can have the best of both worlds, thin and curves.

It doesn't need to be either-or.

You didn't. The "thigh gap" in that photo is the result of the woman standing with a wider stance, not having a genuine thigh gap. She probably wouldn't have a gap if she stood with closed legs.

I would love to meet a female "for her mind".

But I've never met a girl who is both beautiful and into chess playing, philosophy, physics, engineering, etc.

These females simply do not exist.

(I know because I've spent the last 10 years looking for one…)

Take out engineering and physics since those weren't my best subjects (i was a international business/supply chain student), but yes.. many academic subjects i have been good at and i can tell some of the guys in my class and course were annoyed or threatened by me bypassing them in test scores and some would even choose to insult my looks at the end of the day because of it, 'doesn't matter you're not pretty enough' was a common response, which had nothing to do with what we were there for.

So yes, smart girls do exist.. it's just that some guys may not look hard enough, or extremely insecure ones feel the need to put them down because they won't become their 'ideal'.

I'm naturally a very slim build, but I have quite a lot of curves at the same time in the lower part of my back and high arches in my feet too. I have a thigh gap. My legs only touch at the knees and ankles when I put them together. I eat very healthily and I love iyengar yoga and balletcise. I'm flexible and I don't feel 'unhealthy'. Since childhood I walk on my toes when I'm not wearing my high-heels. I still do it all the time in my home when I'm not wearing any slippers or shoes due to my high-arch foot shape. It feels way more comfortable for me to walk on my toes. Overweight people often call slim people rude names, just like people with unhealthy sun-damaged fried skin (tans - sign of skin damage) call healthy and natural people who keep their skin soft, smooth and pale, names too.
