Great video. Sometimes I feel lost within all the smartphone zombies on the street who don't live, just exist to send new messages on Facebook, Twitter or WhatsUp. :( They neglect the reality around them.

The worst is when you are hanging out with someone and while you are talking to them, they are on their phone. My mother does this to me all of the time. It's so rude.

Interesting enough this is what I tell my co-workers, all these smartphones gonna turn us into asocial freaks one day while consequences could be seen today en-mass, this is primary reason why I tend to avoid smartphones therefore I still hold an old-school mobile in my pocket. :)

It reminded me of this:

But yes, the part about kids no longer playing outside is eerie - I wonder how that will effect the next generation, maybe they will act more depressed from living such reclusive lives. I guess my generation was the last one to experience a real childhood and not one of being stuck indoors all day.

Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger disorder (AD) or simply Asperger's, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical (peculiar, odd) use of language are frequently reported.

To the extent that people overuse social media, do they become functional Aspie's?

True. There is a balance. The smartphone or computer can help you, but it is not your life. I have a Samsung S4, I have 50 friends in Facebook, but few of those are real friends. Sometimes I use the phone to ask a question to my wife, sometimes we send silly messages to each other. Sometimes we text are people we actually know and hang out, but sometimes you want to send a message or a picture. Sometimes when you are at the store you can send a picture to ask a question to someone you know, sometimes you can look up reviews at the store for something and make a decision on the spot. Sometimes you play a game to kill some time. Sometimes people are quick to judge that everyone with a smartphone does not have a life. People without a life have always existed, they are just manifesting in different ways. Before they would be in a basement, now they are on the street with a phone or tablet.

I spend a lot of time on the computer, but this phone mania does not concern me at all.

I'd break her phone or walk-out on her.

She's wasting your time.

I usually don't look for human interaction on net.I use it as my big library ,download pdf ,open a music and read them or watch movies.
Actually even on an island alone I won't look for human contact ,if I have enough food and books .
Before computers I was sleeping with my books (in my childhood ) .I was quite asocial even took a book to my highschool graduation party (In case I get bored)

still I don't use a cellphone .I have my mp3 player proving background music for daily life .

I'd love to just pull out a copy of 'War and Peace' in that sort of situation.

I once came very close to walking away from a friend I was drinking with when he kept using his phone. Luckily he stopped just in time.
