Definitely one of the most exotic ethnic Frenchwomen I've seen.

Her real surname is Odona.
I have no clue about where it comes from.

It's maybe the appearance she gives with missing teeths.
She doesn't look French but so exotic?

Maybe Italian. Looking at her French Wikipedia page, her full surname is actually Odona Cabarrou.

Not so exotic, but certainly unusual for a Frenchwoman.

And your father did not teach you French?

It is very difficult for a person who has a french father not to speak the French language, even having lived elsewhere. I've lived in many places and had contact with people from various backgrounds, but even being born in other countries, they could speak the language of their parents.

I learned some French early on but my father moved around quite a bit and we lived in the U.K. when he was younger. I never perfected the language ... I should.

Cabarrou is indeed from the Pyrenean region but not from the Catalan side. Names in '-ou' with a double R are typical for the South-Western part of Gascony that rests upon a Basque substrate.

Odona is a mystery. This extremely uncommon surname surfaced in French Flanders hundred years ago but I cannot find out where it might originate from. Spain? Google suggests it might rather be Japanese...

And by some miracle you became a fluent Portuguese speaker in the UK?...

Surely it's not an Italian surname.

There are many Catalan surnames distorted by the French spelling indeed, but I can't think of any that could be close to Cabarrou. The closest coming to my mind now would be Gavarró, which is the second surname of the Catalan President, and even that surname looks like a Catalanization from a Gascon one -there have been waves of Gascons migrating to Catalonia in the past.

As for Odona, no idea. The closest in Catalan would be Òdena, which doesn't seem related at all.
