The diversity of Roman "rear" head shapes along subracial Europid lines is quite apparent from the study of realistic classical busts from antiquity.

European head shapes are divided into the following classification according to subrace and region;

What is interesting from Roman busts is how diverse the ancient Roman upper-class population was AND importantly how many were obviously not of mediterranean racial type.

Tiberius Caesar Divi Augusti filius Augustus (known as Tiberius) from probably of Alpinid stock (with possible dinaricization);

This is in contrast to Marcus Julius Philippus Augustus (a Syrian known as Phillip the Arab) who is of clear med rear head shape phenotype;

Gaius Julius Caesar again shows Alpinid characteristics

Some like Lucius Junius Brutus appear to have Nordid characteristics;

Whats probably most remarkable, from a physical anthropological perspective, is just how "unmed" the real Latin Romans were (with Med characteristics in non-Latin Romans as above). They seem closer in phenotype to modern French/British than to today's Southern Europeans due to massive immigration from elsewhere since Roman times until today.
