A team of University of Toronto chemists have made a major contribution to the emerging field of quantum biology, observing quantum mechanics at work in photosynthesis in marine algae.

Yeah, this is a major discovery. Previously, it was thought that biological matter was a hostile environment for quantum computing. After QC was discovered it wasn't long before folks were speculating on the brains ability to QC, but apparently, calculations were performed that determined a particle could never survive a biological environment when in a state of superposition long enough to be of any use. The wave-function would collapse immediately.

However, I suppose that time is not an issue after all, considering that the transfer of energy takes place "immediately". :cool:
