How do they compare to the ones from Calabria? Genetically they're similar which is why I ask.

Seems even in phenotype to most extent..I mean the proportion looking pan-Euro or west-Asian-leaning

They actually look more MENA than the ones from Calabria.

Pure Mediterranean looking, none of them fit in Central Europe.

I don't think so.

I don't think so.

Considering that Crete is rather closer to Turkey and the Levant than is Calabria, I don't see why that proposition should be so far-fetched.

Because it's not generally true and Crete lacks Armenoid types. Now you're trying to whitewash Calabria lol

Do these seem outrageously exotic to you?

Not more nor less than the Cretans but you seem incapable of seeing any Greek as less than exotic.

I admit that Mainland Greeks are often quite light, but Islanders as you've admitted yourself are akin to far Southern Italians.

Exactly. But I mean neither group is outrageously dark especially next to one another but you only extend that logic to one and not the other.

Island Greeks are less than 20 percent of the Greek population so they shouldn't be the standard.

I feel like these look more Sicilian than what Cretans often look but they are similar too.
