My favorite is cheese burek.

That type of Bourek was invented in Nish (during Ottoman times) by Serbian cook.

Börek has its origins in the Turkish cuisine (cf. Baklava) and is one of its most significant and, in fact, ancient elements of the Turkish cuisine, having been developed by the Turks of Central Asia before their westward migration to Anatolia.

I learned these as Boureki so I first tried them from a Cretan girl I knew. Looked something like this:

You first said that you weren't referring to borek in general when I pointed out the pictures, now you say that to you the Turkish one looks overdone. Confused much?

It's kind of strange to call the Turkish one overdone when the Balkan one is simply a bulk of dough.

And what did you mean by bland? I was presuming you were saying it about the taste. I replied saying we don't like it overdone and with extreme smells because I thought you were referring to the bland taste. Now I know you mean the presentation looks bland - I don't think it looks like a bulk of dough it just depends on how many layers you use.

The Turkish version is usually more rich, we put milk, eggs and sometimes baking soda onto the layers or dip the layers into a butter-milk-egg mixture, this way it becomes fluffier and richer. So it depends on the type of dish when it comes to tasting bland, but in the burek above we do not put any spices or anything so it's kind of hard for it to smell strong or bad or whatever.

There's a bakery just next to my place, a modern one, all in glass, they play jazz inside. I haven't even been buying there before, thought their burek sucks. I was wrong, I never had a better burek in my life, not even in Bosnia or Kosovo in those traditional bakeries. It is an absolute defeat of tradition against modernity. xD

My two cents from Western Slavia. In Polish 'Burek' is a name for a dog. The adjective 'bury' means brownish gray or gray. It refers to dog's hair colour.

There is your only "advance" in number of faggs and number of serbophillic whores like Severina.

All rest you have is Hungarian and Austrian apropriated history.

You can find burek in many shapes now. But only true Burek is one with meat.
You can find some stupid stuff like Pizza Burek, and similar shit.

If Croatia should conquer Serbia, that is because Serbian masterdom in preparing a good pork (With lambs you suck, can't be compared to Coastal and Mountain Croats).
Pork i ate while i was travelling to Romania, in Banat, was probably one of the best i ate.

lol the name reminds me of a turkish dish: Arnavut Ciğeri

litteraly translates to "albanian liver"

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VYoQjjAurGY/Uu5ofVbqrUI/AAAAAAAAHc0/8OPybDXusJY/s1600/IMG_0027.JPG

Yeah it is exactly a type of Burek which is popular in Turkey and is called Albanian Burek. Albanian liver thought is even more popular, I was said. It is imported from the Albanians that migrated in Turkey mainly due to population exchange with Greece.

No, I don't live near water. And there is no need for your forced labour, you are not fit for it. We'll contact you in worst case scenarios when quantity is more necessary than quality.

My absolutely fav burek is made of yellow cheese and ham :P You can find it in Trpkovic bakery here :coffee: Second best goes to the one stuffed with cheese, while I can't stand 'traditional' one, made of meat and onions, it makes me sick instantly ;(

Severina is not an idol, I think she's the only person in Croatian with that name and her name is funny to Croats.
