These are my wife's eyes, what colour are they?

She is mostly Scottish with a bit of English.

Dark brown hair.

Her siblings all have brown eyes, except for one who has blue eyes. Her father has similar eyes to her. Her mother's eyes are "brownish reddish".

In sunlight her eyes appear golden to me, and at other times they often seem green.

Would the eye colour be considered hazel?

I would call that hazel. And pretty.

I tend to think of hazel as being more of a mix of different colours. I would say that your wife's eyes are a pretty golden green colour. :) I could be wrong though... just my opinion.

Hazel (or golden green). Remind me of my mother's colour, but they are more greenish.

1. She has light brown eyes.

2. Hazel is a tree.

1. She doesn't have light brown eyes, this is light brown (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d1/Martinbrowneyes.jpg/450px-Martinbrowneyes.jpg).

2. Hazel is an eye color. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color#Hazel)

Thanks for the replies. She for the longest time thought she had brown eyes, until she met me. I told her they didn't look brown to me, more like gold or green (her eyes especially look green after she has cried).

So I looked it up and learned about hazel eyes, which I didn't know much about (no one in my family has hazel eyes, all blue).

I just wanted to confirm with some others as finding a good picture of hazel eyes online is actually pretty difficult. Not to mention that people can't seem to agree upon what exactly hazel eye colour is. :)

Looks like a base color of bluish-green mixed with gold and some copperish brown. So it is hazel, or as anthropologists used to write, "light mixed." Very beautiful eyes!
