I find it funny that his surname is one of Arabic origins, and even exists in today's Lebanon, but he looks like an ugly Brit.

Massimo Taibi isn't a Nordic Italian, he is full Sicilian.
Surname Taibi is a typical Sicilian surname. Linguistically could derive from Arab word Tayyb. But who kowns, could have other derivations.
In any case there is no automatic relation between the linguistic origin of a surname and the ethnic origin of the people who carry that surname.

The same surname exists in Lebanon. Anyway, he is clearly not typically Sicilian looking.

He reminds me the Scandinavian Brünn of Coon, his Dalo-Faelid examples from Sweden. Maybe this Taibi has a Norman ancestry, who knows.

Or Lombard.
The so-called "Sicilian Lombardy" is an internal area between the provinces of Enna, Caltanissetta, basically. Probably only Corleone, in Palermo, was a Lombard settlement.

Some Lombard ancestry could exist in Palermo still though.

I'd assume in Sicily it is also of a Greek transliteration then, since there are more names of Greek origin than Arabic there. Anything ending in -aci, for instance.

Yes, in Sicily surname Taibi before being Arabized probably was a Greek name (Tobias) of Hebrew origin. When Normans conquered the island, surname Taibi hasn't changed anymore and it's remained his Arab version. But it's just a version, probably nothing else. There are many Latin and Greek names originated from Hebrew names, but it doesn't indicate that are carried exsclusively by Jewish.
Example: John, name derived from the Latin Ioannes, in turn of ωάννης, Greek version of the Hebrew name יוֹחָנָן, Yôḥanan.

Ugly you say? No homo, but I think he looks like a proper man. Next time you insult a Cromagnid you're going to have to face The Terminator.
