I don't have any ink. Mainly because I cannot decide what I want... but also, my father would roll over in his grave if I got ink, he absolutely HATED tattoos on girls.

I've got one so far, and more will follow in the future. None will ever be visible if I'm wearing a short sleeve shirt though.

Well I guess everyone has seen my pics at some point, so it seems kinda silly replying here...

Anyways, my body is tattooed for about 65%/70%...

Also had some scarification and branding done.

Next up eyeball tattooing...

Yes. I have 2 tattoos. I adhere to a strict schema and find I don't care for 90% of tattoos. I doubt I'll get another, though you never know.

A simple vote in the poll would have done the trick.

The question afterall was wether one has or has no ink. What people think about tattoos has no relevance here what so ever.

I don't have any because I think that tattoos on women make them look cheap and nasty. Although I think a few tatts on men can look sexy. I associate tattoos with masculinity, for some reason. Not sure why. I believe that Celtic women often used to bear tattoos... so traditionally, it's probably not just a "man's thing". I guess my point of view must stem from modern social discourses and cultural trends.

Depends on the tattoo and the place. Some girls actually do their tattoos just to look "sexy"(often equal to cheap in my dictionary).

Prejudice against tattooed people as a whole and putting all the tattooed people on this planet under one label have always amused me. In fact, tattooed people are all different like the untattooed ones:) I don't get it how few ml of ink under your skin can change you as a person.

Many girls have tattoos in their lower backs...

I have one tattoo, for now. It's a stone dragon, and it's on the left side of my back (scapula).

^I was talking indeed for that lower back style of tattooing popular among girls. Most of the time the symbols they use are just the first nice tribal knot they've found in the tattoo catalogue. Same often goes for men. In one-two years most sorry and can't stand their tattoos. That's why I hate trends in tattooing.
After all, it is their skin! I just don't like it when people start to compare all the inked ones like they are different specie.

Falkata
02-09-2010, 08:28 AM
Indeed, i´d get a tattoo but something personal and with a meaning and never too big, i dont know what´s the point about having any random tribal from a catalogue in my arm...
Also i wouldnt like it in a very visible part of my body, mainly because i wanna get a decent job in the future but also because if you see it everytime it can be boring at the end, just my impression.

Well, I don't think all tattoos on women are ugly. I was just generalising. For example, my sister has a tattoo on her shoulder blade with the initials and dates of birth of her 4 children. And she has an angel next to the initials and date of birth of her child who died shortly after birth. It is a touching sentiment and nothing tacky or cheap in any way. :)

Ink is a highly addictive substance. Not so much the ink but more the endorphine that makes getting tattooed addictive.

I've actually thought about getting a tattoo quite often, but I've been hesitant because I want to have a motif that I can carry with me all my life, not something I'll think is silly in a couple of years. So I've waited and matured.

Besides, I would like a unique design of my own but I'm no good at designing anything. :D

Most tattooist do custom designing...

You just tell them what you want and they simply draw it up for you...

That's the awesome thing about it. Having that smoke break in the middle of it just adds to an incredible high, I just love it. I plan on getting alot more. I have 5 currently.

I unfortunatly dont get that rush anymore... Hell I dont even feel the sting of the needles anymore. Nowadays I compensate that with beers and my favorite music playing extremely loud...

I do however still get this shiver down my spine when I hear a tattoo-machine buzzing.:D

Our army doesn't allow it if it's visible when wearing a short sleeve shirt. What's the policy in the USA army.

It used to be that if you were wearing a Class A uniform (the one that looks like a suit), they could not be visible; so, basically only the hands, neck and face were off limits. However, since we've got a problem with retention and recruitment, the standards have been relaxed. It's now not uncommon to see soldiers with tattoos on the sides of their necks or backs of their hands.

Yes, I have about a dozen cartridges of blue-black ink for my fountain pens.
What a stupid damn-fool question ! Did it ever occur to you to ask in plain English for what you want to know ? Namely, "Have you been tattooed ?" No. I think tattoos are vulgar and a disfigurement.
