The expenses are there but they're not breaking Russia's bank. Ultimately, the purpose of such parades is to bring the country together and be proud of their military strength. It's also something to boast about, always. We do decent parades but I think ours should be larger, more intimidating.

And, on the end we have approaching and raising challenge from world terrorism in all possible forms...NATO would be quite soon transformed or some units, to answer on this challenges...

Dear Amarantine, our technical capabilities during the bombing of Yugoslavia were, well, we can say incomparable with Nato's and yet, Yugoslav army suffered only minor losses, a few tanks, artillery pieces and less than 100 soldiers. After 78 days of bombing with the last generation of weapons and planes of all kind.. A few tens of thousand tonnes of all kind explosives was dropped on Yugoslav forces... I believe you know that F117 was cough on the radar screen which was made at the end of '60 and shot down with SAM-3 (Neva i believe is the name of it) which was made at the beginning of '70..

Albanians are buying new helicopters for 80 million of dollars, yet, they are almost eating rocks instead of regular food... Sorry, but I refuse to accept that it is good to buy expensive car although you know you wont have gas to drive it :shrug:
